The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

Be really funny if Matthews walks because of this Not haha funny just funny

Was a little worried about this. Not really *because* of this, just the new guy will be on equal footing with everyone else in trying to sell Matthews on his vision - there's not an established trust there.

Could've easily walked if Dubas was back tho too I suppose, not like we've had the success.

Tulsky is definitely the slam dunk option. He runs the show in Carolina. No one wants to look at Tulsky's mug so they trot ol' dumb Donny Waddell out there as the face of the franchise.

without meaningless shootout win points:

Pre Dubas

'17: 94pts - #11 xgf% 5v5, #11 xgf% ALL
'18: 98pts - #13 xgf% 5v5, #11 xgf% ALL

With Dubas

'19: 100pts - #11 xgf% 5v5, #5 xgf% ALL
'20: 94pts - #11 xgf% 5v5, #8 xgf% ALL
'21: 111pts - #2 xgf% 5v5, #2 xgf% ALL
'22: 113pts - #3 xgf% 5v5, #2 xgf% ALL
'23: 110pts - #5 xgf% 5v5, #6 xgf% ALL

took a good team and turned it into an elite team. the move to eliteness did also coincide with firing Babcock of course.

and there was a bit of slippage this year.

good chance they'll hire Treliving because of the time frames the Leafs are dealing with. He's there, he's available, and he's a name.

He ran an analytics blog back in the day and was hired by the Canes, worked his way up.

There's a shocking amount of money in sports executive jobs compared to the corporate world outside of the tippy top of finance and fortune 500 companies.

I mentioned this when there was all the hand wringing about Masai having all of these options to go and run an NGO and do all sorts of political lobbying and shit. Average CEO pay in the US is about 850K....average CEO of a non profit is like 200K. Nobody is leaving their 5-10 million dollar a year job for that.

Pridham makes 925K as the assistant GM ffs. The guy with the abacus that doesn't make actual hockey decisions and just makes the numbers work is paid more than the average CEO.

Even with his crazy resume, Tulsky never made hockey money (even Carolina hockey money) before moving to hockey.

A Philadelphia native, Tulsky holds a B.A. in chemistry and physics from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. He also conducted a two-year post-doctoral study at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. He worked in high-tech industry for 12 years, managing teams of researchers focused on using nanotechnology to solve problems in DNA sequencing, solar energy, displays, and energy storage; he holds 19 US patents.

Oh, damn. He's like... KING of the nerds.
Ya well Dubas has a bachelor of Sports Management from Brock and banged each of the 15 women he's not closely related to in the Soo.
