I'll be honest. One of my bigger concern points with the Treliving hiring is how far ahead the media knew what was going on in general and specifically how far ahead Dreger knew it was basically done.

The media has existed in the cone of silence for 8-9 years now, but suddenly as soon as Treliving is involved the media is out ahead of the story.

It is possible that he could be both the most obvious candidate to any chimp in the media and the guy Shanahan wanted

Is it simply because Nonis is now in Calgary and they technically have to let Toronto have permission to interview? Otherwise, it’s a strike against him if it’s stuff coming from his camp.

I’ll reiterate, Mirtle said he’d heard Treliving’s name tied to us as far back as mid season…so either someone was feeding him bullshit that hilariously ended up happening, or some sort of back channel conversations were had between intermediaries.

….and I’d almost give credit to Shanny for that. If he knew he liked Treliving as a possible option, it’s good he found out what kind of interest Treliving had, in the event the job did become available.

BPJ (Boston Pizza Jr) is an ok hire, but since this is not a rebuild situation, I think Shanny wanted someone to hit the ground running.

I think the key to this hire is his AGMs. Are they retreads like Nonis? or Are they they they Dubus/Hardy hires.

This could be the same situation as 10 years ago. Hire the guy you really like and have a mentor to take the pressure off and show them the ropes of how to handle the Canadian Media.

if you want help with the conspiracy - note that in April, Treliving WALKED AWAY from the calgary job. They wanted him back and he said no.
