The Motherfucking 2021 Season Thread

Anyone already happen to know what was the last extended stretch of games Andersen put up an average SV%?

I’m not sure what “average” is at the moment. But I’m going to guesstimate at a low number and go with a .910 SV%.

This season, his longest stretch posting that number or better was four straight games from February 6th to February 13th.

Aside from that, there is no other instance of him managing to hit that save percentage number in even two consecutive games.

As for last season—he was actually very good in Frovember. Overall he had a .938 SV% on the month, and only had a sub-.910 SV% in two out of ten games.

Since then, it was generally the same story as this season, though he had a couple of three-packs of good starts, including the final three games of the 2019/20 season before it was cancelled.

He was great for 10 games 16 months ago then?

If you look at that all time performance dropoff graph, I mean Fred is right there in the typical decline zone for players.

so is Tavares, unfortunately. you'd hope that he'd do better since Fred is far closer to an average player than JT is talent wise. but we'll see. he's been healthy this year and low-key terrible a lot at 5 on 5. our top 2 guys have carried us or it would be far more noticeable.

So many times the leaf's sell low and quick on young players (before Dubas). But goaltenders get such a break in Toronto.

If we want to put it another way, since March of 2019, Fred has provided 2 months of goaltending that was better than .904

8 games of .918 earlier this year with is good but hardly great and 11 games worth of Frovember (.938) last year.

So if we wanted to strangle an average "extended period" out of him, we would probably have to look at those 11 games of Frovember that he followed up with 11 games of .904. That's 22 games of ~.921 in the most Freddy way possible.

Leafs vs.

WPG (.625): 2-2-0, 3.00gfa/3.25gaa
EDM (.618): 5-1-1, 3.57gfa/1.86gaa
MTL (.597): 3-1-0, 3.75gfa/2.75gaa
VAN (.486): 3-2-0, 3.60gfa/2.40gaa
CGY (.485): 4-2-0, 2.33gfa/2.17gaa
OTT (.386): 3-2-1, 3.83gfa/3.50gaa

The only opponent where we've failed offensively is vs CGY (thx rittich).

But the real piss off this year are the two teams that have scored too much on us - WPG the only team we don't have a winning record against and even worse OTT who we've wasted way too many points against.

And that's all Fred - he played all 4 vs WPG (.882) and 4 of 6 against OTT (.874).

Obvious we're undefeated in the 2 remaining games there that Freddy didn't play.

I believe his family is filthy rich.

Property developers (Zach's grandfather mostly). At one point he owned 90+ minor hockey teams throughout southern ontario (mostly in the GTHL) Rough value of 200-300K each. Something of an infamous name in Toronto minor hockey circles.

Is the owner of ISS (International scouting service), owns a real estate brokerage that does a ton of commercial RE, big in Ontario horse racing/breeding scene, owns a small fucking fleet of horses. The family is worth buckets of money as has been for a few generations.
