The New Division

Z-Bad lost his roster spot to Da Costa? Yikes. Thats not pretty.
Not that I expect any honesty from you guys, but this simply isn't a case of a player losing a roster spot.

Zbad is a 20 year old with waiver exemption. They are letting Pageau and Dacosta battle it out for a few games then one of them will drop down and Zbad take his rightful spot in the line-up.

The main difference in shot quality per team is in shots given up on the PK. They are higher quality shots/chances than at 5 on 5.

The goalie is mostly responsible for SV%.

You still don't seem to get it.

This board has maintained that they are SOLELY responsible and that he play of the team in front of them was immaterial.

Helped them to scapegoat the goalie and ignore that the team was shit defensively and gave up a higher than average % of quality scoring chances.

Agreed.

Too bad for you that this board has maintained for over a decade that the Leafs goalies were solely responsible for their terrible save % in order to scapegoat the goalies and make the team seem better than they were.

How do you still not understand how save percentage works?

But I thought that Pageau was projected to be a 50-60 point player this year? Why would he need to battle it out with AHL fodder like Da Costa?

Goalies are mostly responsible for their SV%. It's the best stat we have to show their performances.

We had terrible goalies with terrible save percentages. They're pretty much all out of the league now.

Likewise, we all think Reimer is pretty darn good. And his SV% reflects that. And you still think our D sucks so... it couldn't be that right...?

what's too bad about that?

the goalie can only control the quality of his saves.

the shooters can only control the quality of their shots.

why is this so difficult for you?

More you think about it the more adjusted SV% stat makes a hell of a lot of sense, doesn't it?....we really should put that together and calculate it from year to year.

Really think it'd give us an even better picture of who the best goalies are year to year.

yeah but unless there's a cap issue or an LTIR issue, that has to mean they beat Ziba out for a job.
It's neither.

The Sens need to have a 23 man roster and don't want Zbad playing wing on the 3rd line. Da Costa and Zbad make approximately the same $$$ so a cap issue makes no sense.

So they beat Ziba out for a job.

Not surprising - Sens were full of praise for Pageau and DaCosta this preseason, but were eerily silent about Tlustynijad.

Since when is the concept of waivers to send down super awesome young players just to keep worse players around?

That sure isn't the Leafs concept of waivers. They dumped off Colborne to keep a guy who didn't have to clear waivers to be sent down, because the latter was better.

Zibanajed just lost his spot.

Zibanejad didn't lose any spot - he'll be back and playing in short order.

The team still needs to figure out what to do with two other players that CAN'T be sent down. The Leafs might think it's good asset management to simply trade a player for a 4th round and move on, but the Sens sure don't.
