The official NFL thread

Granted.. But, BUT !!!!! If the proper calls were made (and that is a BIG if, I admit) , you never know what can happen in a game.. You just cannot discount the non calls favoring the Jets in their game winning drive..

They would not have been up what they were if not for the blatant calls going in their direction. And when you have a 'young' team like Miami, just a slight proper call, or change in momentum, can sway the game (and attitude of an entire 'young' team)

I don't know, your excuses just remind me a lot of my thought process over the last 5 years. "If only this happened", or "if they got that call."

In much better news...rumours are Brady is done for the year. ..

No excuses at all.. I don't know where you see that...... Because, as a dolphins fan, I don't know how much more I can be complimentary with how the Jets played in South florida in that September heat..

I am just stating, and as has been proven, that there were "non calls" in the game that skewed in the favor of Favre and the Jets.

That's all I am saying.

The proof is in the video shots, and the proof is in the pudding.. And regardless of a non- call or two, the Jets played much better than I expected them to play in those conditions.. But still, non calls were made ( or weren't made) .. For instance, that call on Goodman was ridiculous.. Goodman didn't even touch your receiver ( as the replays showed over and over again).. I mean, to call a guy for merely running along with a receiver down the sideline is absolutely ridiculous.. That call made your game, and your go-ahead score. Because without that first down (by the eventual result of the call, which just so happened to be a 3rd down play), you would not have even been in position to score.. Period.

nah, it looked like he clearly interfered with Coles right arm. That is if we are talking about the same play.

I did notice the play clock one, but those tv ones aren't always accurate, and often wind down to zero. That one did seem late though.

Anyway...incase you missed it, because it was on the last page, your PM box is full. My email is [email protected].

Amazing finish to the Chargers/Panthers game.

Anyone else excited for the Colts vs. Bears? Not just cause they are two pretty decent teams, but because TSN HD is always super high quality.

The official rule is that the team is actually allowed the time from when it hits zero......to when he turns and see's if the ball has been hiked.

It's not as cut and dry as seeing the zero on the clock.......and the ball not being delivered yet.

And honestly, you better than anyone LN, should know that there are tons of plays that occur in every football game that could easily get called one way or the other. Change one or two calls in our favor, and we beat you by 20.

Done deal Leafman.. Pm box has been unloaded.. My pleasure,- as much as I can't stand your team and what they represent.

BTW, you mentioned that you were in school & tight up for cash a couple of days ago.. I kind of felt bad about that, but--- Just so you know, I wouldn't have asked you to pay me had the dolphins won today ( a hundred bucks means nothing to me to be honest)..

:cheers2:

Fantastic game from beginning to end. Very entertaining.

Can't wait.

I'm hearing torn ACL and MCL.........that's gonna be a solid 8 months at least.

I should have watched it rather than the Cowboys roll over the Browns.

Really looking forward to seeing Tony Romo play this year. I think last years heartbreaking end made him far tougher.

One of the best parts about football, is the great banter back and forth amongst enemies prior to gameday, and the admitted respect for each other after battle.

Without question your passion for the Phins, and the discussion in this thread, made an already hyped game, even more interesting.

Made for a fantastic start to the new season..........and although I still think it'll be quite a feat for you guys to win 6 games this year........I think you've got a ton of great young players there to build around, and in another year or two, you'll be right back in the thick of things.

I was flipping back and forth the that game as well...........Felix Jones looks like he might be something special.

well at least I know I am good for something. heh

And thank you for the kind words montana.

As much as I am a leafs fan, I am more of a dolphins fan... I saw that beautiful aqua and orange in a game in 1981 as a young kid... And I haven't looked back since ( whether they are 15-1 or 1-15, it doesn;t matter). :thumbsup(22):

Heh...no worries man. I didn't say tight for cash, I just said I needed to be somwhat responsible because i'm in school and not working again till the summer. I'm the one that suggested $100 though, I would have paid no problem.

let's go bears.

a bears win in combination with carolina's win earlier is very, very, very good news for me. very good news indeed.

Nice dominant win by the Cowboys today.

As stated in the first post of this thread, the Browns defense is atrocious. Their secondary is just awful.. I mean, when you give up a pick FOR Travis Daniels it says a lot. With that said the cowboys are a very good football club, but I wouldn't gauge the whole season based on the Browns defense.

On another note, i just watched the Fins/Jets game again.. And what I am encouraged with is the Dolphins play in the 4th quarter.. In last season's opener the team was totally worn out in the 3rd quarter nevermind later in the 4th), and got manhandled physically at the point of attack in 4th quarters.

The opposite happened yesterday.. The Jets had only 27 yards in the 4th quarter to Miami's 140 yards... I saw the Miami team making numerous key plays on defense in the 4th, and the offensive line really came together giving Pennington plenty of time (despite the Jets bringing extra people).. They were just a jump ball with 5 seconds left from winning the game.

I also have absolutely no idea why Miami didn't run more toss sweeps. This was extremely effective in preseason.. Miami has two guards who are very athletic.. Smiley is excellent at pulling, and so is Donald Thomas (Thomas had the 2nd fastest time in the 40 at the combine for all linemen, and he had the fastest 10 second split of any lineman in the draft).

when they pulled in preseason on sweeps off deep pitches, they were absolutely dominant with plenty of long runs. We didn't see that yesterday.. It was certainly called for when the Jets stacked the line, often overloading one side.. What Miami should have done is pull a lineman from the overloaded side and pulling to the weak side of the defense.. Enabling 4 O-lineman blocking 3 or 4 guys on the opposite end.

There is nothing wrong with audibles in that instance.

And after doing that a few times, a few fake pitches and passes to the flat (on the opposite side) would have been very effective I thought. Keeping the Jets defense honest.

You watched a losing football game twice in the same day?

No, I watched the same game on two different days ;)

Sometimes when you're a big fan of a team you'll watch a game again to see things that may have been missed the first time. Especially when you were at a bar with many loud people and couldn't really hear the call of the game

BTW, the amount of holding the Jets O-line did on that 4th and 13 was not only blatant, but ridiculous.

Good thing the Texans put up a good fight. I know..now it's not because the STeelers played great in all three phases of the game...it's that the texans are now worse than people gave them credit for...LOL!
