The Search for the New GM Thread

The fear is that the new GM treats Nylander like dubas/shanny treated Kessel upon arrival. Though I bet that trade was a Babcock request.
That's really my only concern. And it'll probably give us an immediate view into what's in store with the new guy.

Because either he quickly extends him to a long deal and tells us he knows value and appreciates true skill, or that he's some dummy or looking to make his mark on the team in an unnecessary way.

I think how the new guy will handle the big 4 (not just the 3) will be a major part of the interview process, and I have faith that Shanny cares about the best players and wants to keep them all and add, like a certain faithful poster here.

the more i think about it, the more i'd be shocked if any GM came in and tried to move any of the core.

how could any of them not think "let me have a crack with that core i'm pretty sure i can make it work".
Taking it further, you've posted about all the space - the way to really make a mark and get off to a flying start is to use that money and space to land yourself your own prize player to add to the top six or to the first pair. That's how you get somewhere with this team.

Getting a Meier, Karlsson, Dubois or whoever of that ilk is actually the safe play, rather than flipping a Nylander or Marner for someone perceived to be similar and risking it blows up in your face. The same thing Dubie should've done at the deadline is what Nubie should do when he gets here.

That's the placeholder name for the new guy till he arrives.

I’m ok with trading Nylander if the right piece comes back. He’s good. Don’t think he’s good enough to marry yourself to. I’d even be ok with a Marner deal if we somehow found a better use of that cap money.

I think Matthews is the only guy I don’t move. Maybe Marner. The rest can go.

Nylander has been more clutch than Matthews and Marner whenever it's counted.

He actually doesn't get phased by the intense scrutiny of this market. You want to get yourself some similar player from fucking St. Louis or Nashville, you better realize that there's a risk that Toronto will eat them alive and that you won't get the player that was thriving under less of a spotlight.

If Bowman’s name is out there maybe so should Dale Tallons? Bowman basically handed in Dales homework as has own then showed no discernible ability to do anything good

So why in the fuck would anyone want permission to talk to that guy, especially while the wound is fresh?

Because hockey reporters are trying to wish it into reality, so that they have finally have contact inside our organization. Our instagram page has broken 95% of Leaf moves since the day Lou took over and it drives them all mental.
