The Training Camp Thread

Thought the same thing (L.A. environment)

But I guess the old saying about running from your problems won't solve em, in the end may apply. Still, a change of scenery does wonders to propelling any change

I guess. But that team has had some real issues since they won that Cup.

So, wrapping up Camp, the Canes broke with the following lineup:

Skinner/Rask/Stempniak
Nordstrom/Staal/Nestrasil
Aho/Lindholm/Teravainen
Bickell/McClement/Stalberg
With DiGuiseppe and Fyrk in reserve

Slavin/Faulk
Hanisey/Pesce
Hanifin/Dahlbeck
With McKeown to be replaced by Nakladal in reserve and Murphy on IR

Surpises
- The late personnel moves, I guess. Adding Nakladal and Dahlbeck would hardly have been shocking in the summer, so no huge surprise now other than the timing. Of course one was a waiver grab so. Ditto Fryk, a purely speculative waiver wire pickup. We're counting on him eventually being better than somebody in the lineup right now, but don't have much invested if that turns out not to be the case.

- A couple of things were pleasant surprises. McKeown is further along in his development than I would have guessed. Nestrasil is healthier returning from major back surgery than I would have guessed. Bickel is as slow as I thought, but less useless than he looked last season.
