I think Soupy is the kind of guy who values things other than money more than money. We'll find out soon though. Most athletes chase the bag, so he'd be the minority if he didn't. Especially given his career earnings to date.

I like Dumais from a pure points perspective, but my understanding is his skating is not great (an issue with his size) and gets a lot of points from the perimeter, making his NHL projection less clear. I think those are the reasons most "experts" have him in the 2nd or 3rd round, but the offense does make you pause.

Yeah I deleted it because it made little sense maybe. Ottawa would then be paying 3.125 + Mrazek's entire salary. So the Leafs would need to add to that trade if that's the route they take.

I don't really like any option out there and if Murray was a UFA does he get 3.125 for 2 years? Probably tbh. It's not great though, I agree. Just the reality of the goalie market this year.
 
He did have a really good stretch this year. Perhaps his best since the 2018-2019 season. But then you're banking on that becoming sustainable and banking on retaining his form for 3 seasons ago. Not impossible, but the odds are shit. The odds aren't great for anyone available tho. I guess that's why you get two "maybe he might go on a heater and win you a cup" goalies to increase those odds.

Was basically just gonna say this. He was looking real good for a while there last year, then got hurt.

It could work out, but then again so could Mrazek.

At least Murray's cap hit is only $6.25m.
 
Murray is owed a pretty shocking amount of actual $ the last 2 years of his deal. His last year he makes 8 million. This year, 7 million. That must be killing Ottawa's budget. Signings bonuses are very good for making bad contracts look more attractive.

yeah as LM101 pointed out, will he put in the work to improve it or not? He's in some pretty elite company production wise, so he feels like he's worth a swing.
