To be the first coach fired, Keefe would have to be shit-canned during the regular season, and I can’t imagine a circumstance where that happens. I’m as pessimistic as anyone, but I can’t see this team going into a Babcock-esque death spiral.
I think once again they’ll be one of the best teams in the NHL for most of the regular season and cruise into the playoffs. It’s what happens after that where I’m not optimistic. But by then, multiple other coaches will have been fired already.
