TML? More like FML, amirite? Yet Another Off Season Thread

There isn’t one.

There is undoubtably another Kadri for Kerfoot + Barrie trade we can make. Only to watch Nylander go on to be a 100 pt player while the shit we got back leaves the team and/or sabotages us in the 1st round.

Move everything else besides AM, MM, JT, WN. There is enough in the cap to improve the team without moving one of them.

The worlds isn't high level comp. Malgin is the leading scorer. Willy should dominate.
Everyone plays with a little more jump against garbage competition because you can smell the points available and it won’t be hard to get them.

But NHL hockey is really hard and it just seems unfortunately that Willy doesn’t want to try to overcome the tough competition sometimes, even though he could. It’s a laziness factor.

I’ve been as big a booster of Willy and his playoff performances as anyone.

But this year, two of his three goals came late in a blowout game that was already over. And he didn’t record a single point in the final three games of the series.

So, tough to get excited about his performance this year.

William Nylander had 5 points in the final 3 games of the series.

Gm 5 -- 1 G, 2 A, 3P, +2
Gm 6 -- 0 G, 2 A, 2P, +2
Gm 7 -- 0 G, 0 A, 0P, E

and had the two best chances to tie it up in game 7.

still can't believe he missed the top corner on that breakaway he had vasi beat so bad.

Yep, he closed off the series buzzing after he caught heat for pulling up on that play.

My friends and I talk about Nylander being frustrating all the time and in OT in Gm 6 I was wondering where his effort was for the first 5-10 minutes, but then in the back half (until TB scored) he again had some of our best chances.

Almost as if he was saving some energy and picking his spots.

His talent is immense. His effort is just lacking sometimes. It's normal for any player, you take your foot off the gas a bit if you're tired or dejected about a play, but you can't just be totally disinterested. He plays like he doesn't know the game is televised and people are seeing it.

If he had that slight bit of extra drive - or if we can find a way to instill it in him still - he's a 100 point player for sure.
