TML? More like FML, amirite? Yet Another Off Season Thread

Based on the last few years crosschecking leader beans likely got you a deep run based on the whistles being put away.

Pure coincidence though the minute this team attempts any type of push back after years of being passive its a non stop parade to the box

Some of that is on Keefe for who he put in the line up for the first two games
I guess so. But it looks like Simmonds only took four minor penalties in his last 47 regular season games, and half that in just Game 2. I'm not sure I would've assumed they would've cracked down more on him in the playoffs either.

Simmonds' stupidity cost us Game 2, and Clifford's idiocy almost cost us Game 1.

They did their best to blow both, you gotta give them that.

overnight the dead last in penalties team became the most penalized. It is rather odd.

two things though...I'm not expecting it different next season...we're not going to suddenly get calls out of the blue without a more chippy roster. and our powerplay sucked against the Bolts after being #1 during the year. another feather in Keefe's cap. I don't remember all the calls on Tampa but I'm sure they were all completely correct and earned, as Cooper might say.

IMO Keefe's "this series is going to be violent" backfired with how the whole thing was called. Then Clifford didn't help matters 5 minutes into game 1. From the beginning it got the NHLs attention, and the refs called the series as if it would get out of hand, when neither team is that kind of team.

We would have been much better off staying silent, and letting the refs do what they do best, and not call anything.

You have to be under the radar dirty.

Yeah, looking back I don’t think that helped. Think special teams let us down too. Goaltending and special teams seem to win or lose playoff series all the time and we lose both battles there vs Tampa. And they are damn good at under the radar dirty.

When we hired Keefe, we hoped we were getting a hockey version of Nick Nurse.

Instead we got Dwayne Casey.

Last 14 NHL playoff games: 15 points

I’ve been as big a booster of Willy and his playoff performances as anyone.

But this year, two of his three goals came late in a blowout game that was already over. And he didn’t record a single point in the final three games of the series.

So, tough to get excited about his performance this year.

Yeah last 3 playoffs Willy is at a 43gl/82pt pace.

But there was that play where he pulled up on the forecheck (and still got the puck first) so trade him.

Still have zero interest in trading him.

Just pointing out that he didn’t contribute much this time around, unlike his previous two playoff series.

In truth, despite his counting stats looking better than ever (thanks PP), I thought this was one of his worst seasons in awhile at evens. Always felt he was a super elite possession driver but he didn't really have that impact this year. I'd still keep him of course.
