Funny thing is, I've directed him to FI before. I've sent him links to these threads and tell him, LOOK, you have fellow Habs fans saying this or that, or look at these stats that Zeke spent seven fucking hours over a hot stove to cook up, or check out this debate going back and forth. Then you'll see why your dumb fuck pedestrian views are so fucking stupid and wrongheaded, or that there's another side that even Habs fans acknowledge.
His response? Yeah, I need to read what a bunch of losers on a message board have to say. He loves that there's a guy named JFresh who gets cited here - "oh is that what jfresh said?" Freddy played in 5 elimination games as a Leaf and has a .901 in those 5 games combined

There is no way that these goalies become fucking legendary in elimination games against us. It's ridiculous already.
What's more likely, that the forwards are not stepping up and thereby gifting these goalies these lofty SV%s, or that every one of these goalies all got possessed by the spirit of Vezina?

I still don't understand what "stepping up" means....
The difference seems to be whether the puck beats the goalie or not, not how good the chance worked for was, or the quality of the shot they got off.
We had the vast majority of great chances, but Korpisalo played out of his mind. At the other end Freddy gave in a weirdo tip and then a Freddy special.
The difference between "stepping up" and not can't be simply that the puck went in. The defender who fired that point shot or the scrub who banked one in off of Freddy here didn't "step up", they got cosmically lucky.

Every team that goes at least a few rounds has at least one game in the run where their goalie is out of his mind unbeatable… maybe even in a losing effort. We saw it all those years with cujo and belfour where the leafs won or stayed in games they had no business being in. A few games vs Ottawa, 99 vs Philly and Belfourd 80 shot game vs Philly come to mind.

Goalies do this shit in the playoffs all the time, unless they're wearing a Leaf jersey, where not shitting yourself is the bar.
Oettinger played as insane as I've seen a losing goalie play in the Dallas elimination game a week ago or so, it was fucking epic. I haven't seen that in Toronto for decades.
