Look at this crap. Our defender gets the puck inside our zone, and all our forwards are WAITING at the Sharks blue line. WTF??
No, it's precisely the way you said it: the team plays worse. That's not because Riemer is worse or even that he's a bad goalie. The team, as a whole, just floats around.
This game is a perfect example. Our opponent got five times more shots in the second period, but no goals.
Not Riemer's fault.
Wouldn't be Bernier's either.
Show evidence of worse play beyond just saying it.
Maybe it wasn't Randy.
I don't think we need to rush into any moves that quickly. The trade deadline is still seven weeks away (March 2nd). So, I don't think there would be any harm in giving this group at least a full month, or more, under Horachek to see what he and the team can make out of themselves. After all, this is a valuable opportunity to evaluate the core and this team under a different coach, and I think it'd be a bit of a waste to just blow everything up fairly soon into this experiment.Damn, 1 goal in 3 games and they got pummeled on the shot clock again. 3-10 in the past 13 games and now they have St. Louis on the road. At least they're doing the nose dive early.
I give 'em 5 more games and then management should start clearing the decks.

But if we're even farther back from the playoff picture than we are now getting towards the deadline, then yeah...sell off whatever's not bolted down. Pending UFA's on cheap contracts like Santorelli and Winnik will be pretty useful pieces for contenders, and should get a good return. They'll also have to make a decision on Cody Franson---I'd either want to see him signed before the deadline, or traded. Or, if he really is a big Leaf fan and wants to stick around long-term, you could deal him as a rental with the promise that he'll get a contract offer from us in the summer. I'd sort of like to keep him around, but maybe you consider dealing Polak if you get a good enough offer. Finding Robidas a new home would be nice too, but that's doubtful one year into a three year contract.
After those guys, it should still be pretty wide open, depending what's on the table.
Early returns aren't good but I think the roster needs more time to attempt adjusting to a totally new system.
doesn't look like they can do it but it'll take more than a few games to know for sure.
