Leafs recall Sandin & Liljegren / Rielly out eight weeks with broken foot

Mindz, that little clip you displayed? Its open ice stuff where there wasn't any pressure.

I'm disappointed that you've reverted on what your idea of a good hockey player looks like. It used to be all hockey IQ, skill and skating. Now you're obsessed with everyone playing like, or against Tom Wilson.

It's 2020, "taking a punch" has never been less important.

Managin a team.... Greatest skill ever. Are we seeing it? We have seen great things so far from Keefe.

Its a high end skill, and stress set. Keefer is a cool looking good looking dude, but the dude is grey.

Lets get into the playoffs, get Muzzin back, get Rielly back(sure hope he has no knee problems) and hope that Andersen doesn't have

Wouldnt hold your breath on getting any more out of Barrie

Yup. All I can think of is that now it finally makes sense why the relatively slight difference between Kadri and Kerfoot was filled in with a young 60 point rhd with half his salary retained. He doesn’t bring much to the table. I don’t even know how he reached those totals before considering that with this powerhouse he hasn’t been able to kill it offensively at least.

Worth remembering that Barrie wasn't Dubas's first choice. He traded Kadri to Calgary first and Kadri nixed the deal.

Definitely a case of him just being the best RHD Dubas could find.

That’s exactly his pace under Keefe.

Yes, but the fact that a contending team just threw him into the deal to even things up and retained salary...it looked like a raping by Dubas at the time, but shit it feels pretty even now.

Well, it’s good he’s not signed yet. We have time to wait and see if he’s a good fit here or not.

I can’t see how he stays. The only way is if we whiff on any big ufa like Pietrangelo and Barrie sticks around at some discount like $6m. I don’t think I can stomach more than that to him, and frankly don’t think we need him or that he’s worth a long term commitment. He kinda reeks of one of those guys who you regret resigning one year into his new deal. That’s kind of our situation right now, but at $2.75m, there’s not much to gripe over.

It hasn't worked out with Barrie, but on paper it definitely should have.

at this point I think Barrie ends up walking. not much chance he'll be traded now, if there even was any before Rielly got hurt.

Barrie Under Keefe:

23gms, 4gls, 17pts, +5, 54.6cf%, 56.7xgf%, 20:52 (82gms, 14gls, 61pts, +18)

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not.

Obviously I believe in big money to big players, considering my opinion on Tavares from the start.

I think the $7m or so that he’d want would be ridiculous to pay in his case.

No sarcasm. I'm not big on signing 2nd tier free agents to big money, especially well into their 30s.

Very similar to the Tavares situation. I'm not 1000% on it but I think I'd like it anyways.

I think he’ll stand the test of time on a 7 year deal, and in any event boosts our Cup hopes in a huge way for the first few years of it at least. It would be so nice to not have a patchwork influx D for once.
