The cap will always have to be actively managed. We will lose players like Kapanen and Johnsson when they reach UFA status.
But there is no cap mess. We had a crunch that required taking care of this summer and this summer alone.

We've upgraded pretty much everywhere on the roster and have room to sort Mitch out when his old man and agent come to their senses. At an ~84 million dollar cap next year, assuming Mitch is in at 10 million, and Kerfoot at 3, we will have everyone important signed for 20-21 other than Barrie, Muzzin and Dermott and we'll have 21 million in cap to sign or replace them and fill in the roster with the same type of depth group we just brought in for dirt cheap (Spezza, Shore, Agostino, Gravel, etc)
Frankly, if you don't have cap problems to manage on an ongoing basis, you're not trying hard enough to win. The leafs will have issues to manage (Rielly is probably going to be a 10 million dollar hockey player in 3 years, Sandin looks like a pimp and RFA deals aren't what they used to be, etc), but they're good issues to manage.
