I laugh but their goal in game 3 turned the whole series around
Yah we do this every year. Emotional hot takes when we get eliminated, only to crawl back again laterWhen cooler heads prevail people will realize that resigning Marner is a strong possibility. Letting him walk for nothing is not something that will be palatable to the higher ups.
Maybe if he agrees to a sign and trade but he didn't agree to move for Rantanen so I don't see that happening.
Possiblity because the Leafs management has no guts. And as I said before, Marner better brace himself to be serenaded by the home crowd if he signs a big $ contract here. When cooler heads prevail people will realize that resigning Marner is a strong possibility. This is what makes it hard to get players to want to play there though.Possiblity because the Leafs management has no guts. And as I said before, Marner better brace himself to be serenaded by the home crowd if he signs a big $ contract here.
FairIMO, there’s too much trauma to run it back.
There are no obvious or easy answers but I do expect big and bold changes

Marner has all the power. They could make him a fantastic offer and he can still tell them to pound sand. And I don't see them, after another craptastic playoff performance by Marner, offering him what it would take to get him to sign. They'll make an offer, but with the expectation that he will walk. When cooler heads prevail people will realize that resigning Marner is a strong possibility. Nobody else deals with as many media and fan know it alls, though. This pressure narrative is a bit grating. Sure, the Leafs are a unique market in hockey, but if you look at other pro sports leagues (North America and globally) there is no shortage of big markets facing the same pressure challenges. Yet they don’t all lose their elimination games.
Also this pressure seems curiously calibrated — not enough of an obstacle to make the playoffs and force game 7s but just enough to give their opponents the slightest edge

this is the first time the knicks have made it past the 2nd round in over 25 years.
Yup, was gonna make a similar point earlier. I can't imagine it's much fun dealing with the bullshit, but social media is everywhere, and there are multiple big-market teams in every sport that have all-sports talk radio stations - so fucking what? The fact that Vito from Woodbridge disagrees with the deployment of your 3rd line is causing you to lose 6-1 when the chips are on the line? This may be a top 5 issue, but is sure as fuck isn't the only issue, or even in the top 3.This pressure narrative is a bit grating. It’s kind of why I thought the Leafs would advance…. streaks (good or bad) eventually snap
