I do truly believe that based on tre's comments, neither party was particularly horny about signing a new contract. So it's not the most groundbreaking tweet from the random podcast account.

Mitch's representation (so by extension, Mitch himself) has always been as cynical as fuck when dealing with the organization. Has always wanted top dollar, has always been willing to leverage whatever they can to get it. This is no different. Does Mitch actually want to be here? I don't see any proof of that beyond the Leafs being the team that can pay him the most money. I don't think he actually cares where he plays if it was for the 8x14 that he wants.

It's been a few years so I get if people have forgotten....but their first negotiations was a shitshow that soured a lot of the fanbase on Mitch for a while. He repaired some of the good will over time, but only some.

Yeah, that’s really the most grating part.

He’s had tons of underserved praise, adoration & adulation heaped on top of him during his time here, was given an extension that paid him an AAV $2M+ in excess of any reasonably comparable player at the time, head coaches (aside from Babcock) that have been terrified to say a single critical word about him in public or force him to play a single shift apart from his BFF & chosen linemate. And they even came up with a silly letter rotation to slap an underserved “A” on his jersey.

Even so, this pouty little pisspants constantly feels slighted.
