2025-26 Hurricanes Prospects and Minors Thread

Seeing just how far away he was from NHL standards during the playoffs last season was honestly a bit shocking to me. I was willing to give Nikishin a pass since he had never really played the North American game and had the language issues, but Morrow was just horrible considering his experience level. I know there's some offensive game there, but I'm just not convinced it was ever going to be worth it to try and get him up to NHL level otherwise. Presumably the Rangers knew what they were getting. There was TONS of tape on him between college and AHL.

I will likely never understand the thought processes behind player usage in Russian hockey, but it seems REALLY common for them to just bury a dude for months on end only for them to turn up out of nowhere and play great.

Also, I saw some clips of Miftakhov pretty much triggering a brawl in one of the Iowa games. Seems like Freddie isn't the only Canes goalie with a short fuse lately.

Forsmark showed a lot of flash in Juniors but hasn't dazzled as a pro. He looks like a solid 2nd pair SweHL Dman, which might leave him no better than a #8/9 NHL defenseman if he ever comes over to North America.

We have SEVEN other LHD that the Canes currently have signing rights for (6 Russians and Noel Fransen who was taken the draft after Forsmark and picked a round earlier).
 
Speaking of Carter Hart, is today not the day he can officially start playing games with Vegas and return to the league officially? It will be interesting to see how much rust there is to shake off with that guy.
