2025-26 NHL Miscellaneous Thread

The ABA would like a word … as would ABA coaches.

Also, I really like the shirts Florida was wearing. The rest of the thing … eww. I never could figure out if the pants and gloves were supposed to simulate leather or what. And yeah, the socks were straight out of the 70s with no real thought to modern TVs. Back in the lo-fi days, the rough edges would have softened by terrible technology

NBA, ABA, NCAA benches all looked like that. Take a look at Norm Sloan’s jackets.
 
It was the 70s in full flower. The 60s kind of bypassed the coaches, because they tend to lag a generation behind in terms of social trends. By the 70s even the coaches were getting weird.
 
Landeskog took basically exactly the same impact with the net last night as Jarvy did the other week … also against Florida. To be fair, the nearest Panther (Forsling I think ) didn’t seem to impact the fall, as Landeskog looked like he caught a skate in a rut. Still, it’s Florida and these things juts keep happening against them

And if you thought their outdoor games uniforms looked bad in the Marlins’ stadium … they look 100 times worse under arena lights. Like, shocking bad.

That takes him to 34, but Dvorak has really bounced back in Philly after a rough couple of years in Montreal. Not sure if it’s just a better style fit or if he decided to get in better shape or something, but he’s back to looking like the feisty two-way player he was for the Coyotes.
 
Something for Thursday’s game…Petr Mrazek left last night’s Ducks game with an injury. Ville Husso was recalled from San Diego.
 
Igor Shesterkin suffered an ominous looking non-contact injury in last night's Rangers loss to Utah. No reports yet on how long he might be out, but it looked like knee/groin and it didn't look good.

Left leg injury (hardly a collision). Of course the media story now is if the Rangers need to be sellers if Shesterkin is out long term.

Columbus signs Egor Zamula, 1 year/$1 million. They’re his 3rd Metro Division team in the last 7 days. He started the season with the Flyers and was traded to the Pens on 12/31 for Phil Tomasino. He refused to report to the AHL and they placed him on unconditional waivers yesterday for purposes of contract termination. He cleared today and signed with the Jackets.
 
Emily Kaplan says she’s hearing the worst case scenario on Shesterkin was avoided but he’s still going on I.r. Adam Fox was placed on LTIR, so he’s out for 10 games/24 days
 
With Shesterkin and Fox out, the Rangers recalled Spencer Martin to back up Quick and Scott Morrow.
