2019-20 Canes Miscellaneous News Thread

What’s the estimate on actual seats/tickets available for a hockey setup at Carter Finley? Are we talking 60K? I used JR and his former very helpful administrative assistant Mary Jeter to secure Winter Classic tickets in Ann Arbor and that worked out so well for our group in 2014.

Wikipedia says capacity is 57,583. I’ve never seen field seating for any of the outdoor games, so that has to be the max, right?

They can augment with additional bleachers in the corners if needed and you can add some standing room capacity. Safe to assume fully max-ed out capacity is probably around 60,000.

So basically 3 home games at PNC.

Maybe they can find it in their heart not to charge STM for any preseason games next year.

FB fields are not flat, they have a slight arch to help water move off. I guess since they have been doing this since 2003 they know how to make the ice flat . Each field has its own amount of arch. I remember reading OK football had a really big arch on their field when it was artificial turf. They have been on grass since 94 so maybe it's not as arched now.

I think our field is fairly flat (not a high crown per the term of art) as it was reworked several years ago w/ an engineered soil + enhanced subsurface drainage to drain well. Still real grass.

But not for hurricanes!

Fleury had a MRI today, we’ll know the results tomorrow. Expect a recall from Charlotte.

The MRI must have been negative because Fleury is practicing today, as is Martinook. No Turbo, probably/hopefully a maintenance day.

if we get decent amount of snow will the Canes let us upper deck riff raff move down to better seats?

I believe in the blizzard of 2000 they opened the doors and let anyone in even if you did not have a ticket. I had a ticket and stayed home.

Maybe if it wasn't Friday night premium game against the Rangers. By tomorrow the roads should be fine in most places, its questionable how bad they will be tonight into tomorrow morning (says the New England native who knows things around here are always worse than I think they should be).

Yeah ... no forecast I've seen makes it look like tomorrow's game will be one of the weird "sit where you want" deals. 1-3 inches with temps back over freezing tomorrow afternoon. That's not a recipe for too much trouble. Especially on a Friday when folks will just skip work anyway.

IMHO I don’t think he should drive the zamboni around the ice. He should be chauffeured around the ice on the back of the zam.
