2019-20 Canes Miscellaneous News Thread

Could be they held off on calling up a D from Charlotte because those chips are in play. But they needed goalies for practice today regardless.

Well, yeah. With Priskie being dealt today, we know for sure there was some conversation surrounding AHL d-men. The Gs needed the reps ... the Ds, not so much.
 
The delay in calling up a defenseman from Charlotte might be due to a 3 pm AHL deadline today for who is on a team's playoff roster. Have to be on it at that time to be eligible.

Goalies could be called in earlier because they were presumably an emergency recall, so still on the Charlotte roster with a mandatory return once the player they are substituting for is healthy and back on the NHL roster.

At least allows us to shop the 2:55 PM bargain bin before calling anyone up for tomorrow's game.
 
looks like they are very close to installing the ice system at the new canes practice rinks. The building is mostly closed in. Looks like it will be 100% ready in a few more months.
 
The Athletic is handing out trade deadline grades and put the Hurricanes at the top of the Principal's list with an A. They gave the Panthers a C for the Trocheck trade. Apparently, Florida's first ask was Necas. LOL. Hey, can't blame them for trying.

Scott Foster’s 15 minutes have lasted 2 years. David Ayres’ should last longer; he got the W, Foster didn’t. Also expect to see him at the NHL Awards in June.
 
So cool, and thanks to the heads up I saw from the Canes, I stayed up long enough to see the Colbert opening. I read that he returned later in the show wearing goalie gloves to also emergency-backup Jon Batiste in the band; if anyone has that clip please post it ;) or if I find it later I will.
 
Dave Ayres press conference right now, live on the Hurricanes twitter feed. For the love of god, *please* remove the damn hat. Can't see his ding dang ol' eyes. It's weird.

Cory Lavalette tweeted that Pesce is considering surgery on his shoulder. But in the good news department, Mrazek was on the bike in the workout room.
 
For those that don't know , you can go through US customs in Toronto. There are a few other places that have that in Canada and other countries. RDU has customs for London and Paris flights and any others that are added in the future.

Yes, and the two of them were excellent at the presser. They need to have some sort of TV show. Photogenic and great on the mic. Just take him damn hat off so we can see his face (same when Mike Manispellcheck interviews a Hurricanes player on the bench; take the damn helmet off so everyone can see his face. Marketing 101 folks!)
 
No practice today but I would imagine a lengthy video session. Edmundson might want to keep his hat pulled low for it.
