If the acts they’ve gotten for the home grown nights are any indication - please no!We can't get a NC-related musical act to show off to the world?
Is everyone still pissed off at Scotty McCreery?
That crowd does NOT represent the level of musical talent in the area in any way shape or form. God help anyone who thinks it does, because that would just be sad.If the acts they’ve gotten for the home grown nights are any indication - please no!
He's not a big name except around here. What did he do to get people mad?
BTW ... cue Warren to tell us that a big national name like George Strait would be a bigger draw for the occasion than all these regional acts. And he'd be right ... but I'm from NC and this is a showcase that could be just as well served by using somebody with actual local ties. Meh ... just don't book 3 Doors Down again and I'll at least be relieved.
Great concept in theory...from a practical standpoint, it won't happen.I look at it this way...a big local name, who has headlined big shows before, is going to sell out PNC, just as well as a “national” band will. So it should be a local showcase, it’s not like we live in a musical desert, bereft of talented musicians.
Avetts sell out out arenas and big outdoor venues in the area consistently and have done for a long time. Eric Church is a huge draw as well. J Cole would easily sell out PNC since he doesn't play locally often other than his (new-ish) festival. This is not complicated stuff. Plenty of quality acts to pick from without going to an old line country radio act like George Straight ... no offense to any fans, but the boy is past his sell by date and ain't from round these parts, so what would the point be exactly?which local band/artist would sell 18k tickets? I don't listen to rap but maybe J Cole? James Taylor is still pretty big but not sure he sells out shows now. Luke Combs has 2 shows at PNC this year so I guess he's big in country, he's from Asheville. I would think Combs would be the biggest NC artist they could get.
