2019-20 Miscellaneous NHL/Hockey News Thread

Vancouver evened their series with a 5-2 win over Vegas. Tyler Toffoli had a goal and 2 assists and Markstrom had 38 saves while his teammates blocked another 40.

We have another matinee today with game 2 of Flyers/Islanders at 3 with Lightning/Bruins at 8 and Stars/Avs at 10:30. Stars are looking to go up 3– in that one.
 
2nd game of a back to back set for Tampa and Boston, following an OT game ... albeit one that ended fairly quickly ... is a depth challenge. You know for sure that Halak hasn't played many (if any) back to backers in his time in Boston, so that's going to be new ground for him. This series looks to be a long one, so this could be a bit of a momentum point if Tampa can find a way to claw out consecutive wins.

Colorado really needs to figure out how to tighten up their D zone coverage enough to allow for their suddenly shaky goaltending and Dallas' suddenly effective offense. Weird series that got completely unscripted once Grooby got hurt. Goaltending depth man ... it's a real issue.

If I’m reading CapFriendly correctly, I don’t think the ‘Yotes pick until the 4th round this year. They traded their first in the Taylor Hall deal, lose their 2nd and traded their 3rd to the Avs for Carl Soderberg. They also gave up a conditional 2021 3rd rounder in the Hall trade But if he re-signs in Arizona, that becomes a 2nd rounder, so they wouldn’t pick until the 3rd round next year.

So they lose their first to the league and their 3rd to the Devils for Hall. They keep their 2nd, and their own 4th - 7th and the Pens 4th from the Kessel trade.
 
Tampa got 4 points from Kucherov and 3 each from Killorn, Point and Sergachev and smoked Boston 7-1 to take a 2-1 series lead. Dan Vladar made his NHL debut in relief of Jaro Halak, who gave up 4 goals on 16 shots in 31 minutes.

Colorado avoided a 3-0 series hole by beating Dallas, 6-4. There were 6 goals scored in the 3rd period, the first 3 from Dallas, the next 3 from the Avs

Loved seeing Boston get their noses rubbed in it last night...they sure looked like a deflated bunch and hung both goalies out to dry...Go Bolts Go.
 
Bruins and Ning started as scheduled today at Noon, with the Flyers/Islanders and Knights/Nucks to follow. So, looks like the playoffs are back on track following two days of old, white hockey writers completely missing the point of the stoppage ... wait ... following two days' pause to mark more unrest surrounding racial equality concerns in the US.
