Frankly, not sure what the general sports pod would be like but this market could certainly use a decent NC State pod.

The Danville Casino, future home of Caesars Virginia, opens on May 15. It’s about a 90 minute drive from PNC Arena. I don’t know if it’s going to include a sports book but if it does, the GA better get their act together quickly.

The website for Ceasar's Virginia says there will be a sportsbook on site.

The NC GA and "quickly" never appear in the same sentence unless the words "never acts" is between them.

We all know the NC GA will watch millions of taxable sports betting revenue walk to other states. The thing is, there is still enough pushback from a morality/social perspective that the legislature might continue to keep sports betting out of NC.

This is the lottery all over again. And everyone will have their own opinions on whether or not we should have sports betting in NC (and all of those opinions are perfectly valid). What I'm interested to watch is what happens 5, 10, 20 years down the road in terms of casino gaming. I would say that NC will NEVER allow casino gaming outside of Native Americas reservations. Times are changing quickly though....

If they blow this one they deserve to be laughed at and ridiculed...you simply cannot have millions upon millions of dollars spent in other states on something that most other states are already way ahead of you on. The whole morality argument is just typical political bullshit where the same people who oppose this type of thing will fully support some other vice and talk out of both sides of their mouth. In this day and age, grown adults should be able to make their own decisions on how they spend their money, we don't need the government to tell us how we should do that. I may never spend a dollar in a casino or a sports book but I certainly hate watching tax dollars fly out the window to other neighboring states year after year. The lottery was the devil and was so evil yet here we are building new schools and improving existing schools because of it so many years later.

It passed the House pretty handily but the Senate hasn’t taken it up yet.

Berger is going to have to whip for it. Last time he decided to sit back and see what happened and it bombed out of the Senate. If he wants it, he'll get it ... but it's often hard to tell what he's willing to spend political capital on.

If any of you jabronis find yourself in North Hills during lunch time, let me know if you want to meet for lunch. If our timing lines up, l would enjoy eating food with you.

It looks like San Diego is set to be the new home of a MLS franchise
Expansion fee went up $175 million in 4 years. Snapdragon is a really nice stadium that REALLY needs more covered seating, especially with a summer MLS schedule, but hey ... it's San Diego. They'll live

We had Joe on yesterday; I thought it was a really good conversation about the market and the team.

We had a good time with him,. and I thought he made some great points about the Caniacs and how Carolina always shows up big when asked (Draft/All-Star Weekend, Stadium Series) etc
