2019-Whenever Misc. Grab Bag Thread

Is the site brutally slow for everyone or just me? Its been awful since last night....thought I had an issue at home but other sites are fine and its doing it at work today also.

I see that NC State men's basketball team is playing a game against UNC-G in Reynolds Coliseum on December 11. Do those games sell out fast?

Usually, yes ... but there's always the secondary market. Last year's Reynolds game didn't price up too badly on the secondary market, IIRC.

Chuck Amato has passed. He was quite a character, and had one very good football team.
Yeah ... Chuck was a true Wolfpacker on top of being an absolute piece of work. I was talking to a neighbor who is a State football alum this morning and he told me the older guys and the guys who played for the Chest are really torn up even though this has been coming for quite awhile. The wake will be BIG

Does it get pretty rowdy in there still? A coworker just moved down from Bethlehem PA and is interested in going to sports events for the local universities and I'd like to give him a proper introduction to an old style ACC barn.

I did a photo shoot with him. We waited an hour in this field off Lake wheeler road. He rolls up in an old white caddy and hops out in a white Saturday Night Fever suit, red glitter Dorothy from Wizard of Oz shoes and the biggest dopiest sunglasses I’ve ever seen. It was for a sports article on the new bowl affiliations. Guess he thought it was for White Pimp Quarterly or something

I've only been to women's games since the renovation, but it's plenty loud for those. Not State/Carolina mid-70s loud, but loud enough that I break out the earplugs

Yeah ... he was bonkers, but he was that way his whole life. All gas, no brakes. The guys who played for him loved him though.

Reynolds and Cameron are all that are left
Reynolds popcorn and cigarette smoke smell will be with me forever!

My encounters with Chuck were seeing him leave Mass early when I would take my wife when she could not drive.
And one morning about 5 years ago, I crossed paths with Chuck at the CV HT as he was leaving. I said hello and told him I worked with a guy for 40 years that he knows. Chuck asked who with an 'oh god, who could it be' look on his face. So I told him Mike *******. Chuck got the biggest smile on his face, asked how Mike was doing, etc etc. So we start to go our ways and I said, "Chuck, I've heard some great stories about you over the years." He laughed like hell and said "I bet you have!"
Mike got a kick out of that story also.

Even though I haven't seen him in the daytime lately, my deer buddy Edgar Winter came by when I couldn't see him. It occurred to me "They Only Come Out in the Dark" seemed kinda fitting. He's put on a little weight and has a regular crew of does and young bucks that he runs with.
