2021-22 Season Hurricanes Misc. Thread

next season and playoff ticket prices are out now. If you want to do pay as we play for playoffs you have to renew 22-23 season tickets first. Was that the case in the past?
I don't remember what the specific deal has been the last couple of years, but the Hurricanes have definitely tied renewal to playoff purchase flexibility and/or priority in the past.

So I'm waiting for my fancy email, but we can parse some of what is out there at the moment related to 22-23 season tickets:

* It appears the 'food and beverage credit' that has been given STMs or new purchasers who commit to season tickets by a certain date are no more.

* The STM food discount for next season will increase from 15% to 25% (probably so they can say, yes we took the above away...but...) Of course if they raise food and soda prices again next season this will sort of be a wash

* Per game parking for standard lots for full STMs goes from $13 a game to $15 a game

* Per game ticket price increases seem very modest. My STM per game base price goes from $57 per game to $58 per game. I'm pretty surprised by that. I didn't check other price points to see what the increases were yet.

* Playoff ticket prices look similar to what I remember them being last season.

You COULD say that the loss of the food and beverage credit, especially for full STMs, amounts to a 5-7% price increase if you want to totally discount the move from 15 to 25% for the 'STM price' on food and soda. But overall I was expecting overall costs for STMs to go up much more than they are.

I didn't check any pricing other than my own either, but my increase was similarly minimal ... a couple of bucks per seat per game. So, It seems that they opted to take away the food and bev credit in lieu of a substantial price increase ... which is of course, an effective price increase ... mitigated by a bigger point of sale discount. If they were trying to make it impossible to do the math, they pulled it off.

I guess I won't complain if we make it to the finals but boy that will take a bite out of the wallet this go round. Ouchie!

My invoice:
My $104.03 Sideline Preferred seats go to $107.25 (after tax), assuming they're billing a 42-game invoice (41 - outdoor game + 2 preseason)
Premier parking pass goes from $24 to $26.

So, +3% on the seats, "plus" if the 7% F&B credit is removed, that's the expected 10% bump in guaranteed cost.
I expect the additional discount in STM concessions to be taken up / canceled by the usual price increase there as cmal suggests, plus the wording on that ("to commemorate our 25th Anniversary, STMs will receive 25% off concessions all season!") implies it will go away/down as well for 23-24, and doesn't include your beer, wine...

I have 11 game plan and it seems I cannot do pay as they play for the playoffs? Or maybe that just impacts next season. I will ask about that

IIRC that was the case.

My Pure Hockey tickets went up 10%, from $50 to $55. General parking went from $13 to $15.

So they have used up the 'stealth price increase by not including sales tax in the per game base ticket price' and now the 'no more STM food and beverage credit stealth price increases' I think they have run out of ways to increase STM prices outside of per game base price on the tickets. So for 23-24, I expect to see the base STM per game prices take a much bigger jump than they did for 22-23.

Interesting. Those Pure Hockey Tickets didn't come with a food and beverage credit I believe? So they increased revenues on those STMs a different way. Sorry to hear that andyt.

Did they remove Pure Hockey for section 107 from the 2022-23 season ticket price list? Didn't there used to be 3 lower level pure hockey zones....Top 8 Center Ice, Sideline (ie Sect 107) and Lower Level North? I don't see the Sideline Pure Hockey listed anymore.

No, I didn’t get a F&B credit. But even with losing that, I still came out ahead compared to my old seats in the mezzanine.

I don’t think they’re offering new Pure Hockey seats in 101, 107, 116 or 122 anymore. We grabbed ours in 122 the first time they were available but they never advertised those, we found out at select-a-seat.

Pure Hockey pricing is definitely a great deal price wise. I would be eligible for that as I sit in the Lower Level North Zone where they offer it, but the ability to exchange my tickets and move things around is still too important for me to give up. Trying to navigate my 2 seats with 4 family members who have schedules all over the place make it critical that I can exchange our seats (it takes some creativity sometimes to pull off).

One other new wrinkle.

For 21-22 playoff tickets, full 21-22 STMs get a bigger discount on their STM seat playoff strips than flex plan holders or newly purchased 22-23 STMs do. I don't think that is new. However, if you are a full STM for 21-22 and you want to purchase additional strips (which is something I always do as I need an additional 2 seats for the playoffs), the price for the additional strips are no longer going to be at your full STM discounted playoff ticket price. They are going to be set at the higher flex plan, 2022-23 new ticket prices.

I don't think that impacts a lot of people, but it impacts me.

I'm in that boat also, but didn't notice that wrinkle yet. A friend shares my season seats and we double up for playoff strips so we can all go every game.

That blows.

Pure Hockey works out great for us. We loved our mezzanine seats but the ability to move back downstairs and save money was too good to pass up. But 122 was the only section we considered, otherwise we’d still be upstairs. My wife hates sitting on the bench side and it had to be the shoot twice end, she’s very particular. I rarely used the vouchers so losing them wasn’t a big deal and I have a friend who always has extras if my daughter wants to schlep up from Wilmington for a weekend game. I have enough friends to sell my seats to if I can’t go, so losing the exchange doesn't bother me. Can’t go to the STM party? Big deal.

Magic. They can still use magic.

Kidding aside, sooner or later Dundon is going to have to pull him his big boy briefs and actually increase pricing without any tricks. Maybe then we'll be a grown up market :0)

With TDA possibly on the shelf, the Canes recalled Jalen Chatfield from Chicago.

Sure ... no choice really. Smith is dinged up, and whatever's wrong with DeAngelo is unlikely to get better with just a couple of days off. Hopefully Chatfield can bring a similar level of energy to that he brought in his last callup.
