2021-22 Season Hurricanes Misc. Thread

I've never been a fan of AG. Even long before he ever began giving a seconds worth of attention to the Canes. He's always relied on being an over opinionated jerk and playing devils advocate.

I used to be a fan until the Rockingham dates were taken. F em now. Plus no real personalities any more.
CanefanT and I used to talk racing some during games.
Always figured Cmon 3 was an Earnhardt fan also!
Back in the late 80s/early 90s I went to a lot of races. But when Dale was killed at Daytona it really took the wind outta my nascar sails.

Had my E hat on the next week at the rock and some dude just walked up and gave me a big hug.
I used to go to Martinsville, Rockingham. Wilkesboro, Richmond, & some Darlington races (F Bristol) and was a Davey Allison fan. I just couldn't give as much of a damn after he died. Driver pool was being diluted away from regional guys. I followed the Busch series when they ran 6 cylinders too.

They kind of abandoned their base reaching for NEW fans. Maybe they found them. I dunno. I stopped paying attention when they stole all the races from the area. Those were a big deal to the local economies.

Went to one of those V6 races at Rougemont. Sounded like pissed off yellow jackets!

I had a couple log cabins not far from mzrtinsville. Years ago there was a waiting list for the martinsville races and the floyd music fest. Later nothing for martinsville.

Trained retrievers once near Martinsville. Maybe had a warehouse customer near there. Never went to a race there.

That's not too far from me. My wife's horse is boarded less than a mile from Orange County Speedway. She hacks out & rides him in the parking fields @ OCS sometimes. I help maintain trails & fences on two farms in that area. Nothing but air and a few limbs between where I used to hunt and that track. I could understand the call on the PA system of the track during the deer archery season. Still a Scott Riggs fan too.

I like a bigger track where they can get speed up (non restrictor plate), but too many drivers would get hurt if they had anything but a bowl to race in up here. Racing brings some spectacular crowd watching & fan brawls at that track as well.

If you have a Peacock subscription, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has a series called Lost Speedways where they visit abandoned speedways. Rockingham hasn’t been featured, these things are buried deep in the woods, or, in the case of Asheville Speedway, turned into a city park.

Back in the late 80s and 90s I used to cover the races up there with the Rescue Squad in Hillsborough. Ah, the stories I could tell.

Teravainen is a full participant in practice, back on Aho’s line. All 3 goalies are on the ice.

There was a speedway in Raleigh near intersection of Capitol Blvd and the Beltline. And if you did not know the last NASCAR dirt race (until recently) was at the state fairgrounds track in 1970. It was also the only NASCAR race at that track.

Also they are breaking in green uniforms today. (and someone here head has just exploded)

Ditto that about "The Rock". One of the best racing tracks for 3 wide in the corners.
