2021 NHL Draft Thread

Very lightweight winger, but also very value rated having fallen a good 30 spots below some rankings. Son of NHL alum Jason Blake ( Kings, Ducks, Isles, Leafs). Dad was small but feisty.

Canes trade #123 (4th round) to Ottawa for #136 (5th round) and #170 (6th round)

The Canes have traded down with every one of our own picks in this draft so far. We had traded our 5th round pick in this draft away as part of the Erik Haula deal with Vegas.

Jackson said his dad wishes he could lace them up now and play for RBA.

Pick 187 ... German goaltender Nikita Quapp. Look, it's not that Whynot kid, but I'll take it. Quapp, quapp, quapp ...

Pick 200 ... another big goalie, Russian Yegor Naumov. At this point, who the heck knows what any of these goalies will look like in 4 years, but you're just hoping one of them pops.

Pick 219 ... D Joel Nystrom from Farjestad, and I think we're done here. Apparently a hugely mobile defenseman with upside. The kind of guy Carolina likes to take a flier on in a later round. Could be a unicorn, could be a guy you forget in a year.
