2021 Playoff Thread | Round 1 | Habs/Leafs

That fight is almost as upsetting as Tavares' injury. The latter was horrendous but such events can't be avoided in certain sports (hockey, football, etc) but the fight was completely unnecessary and not without its own risk...imagine the reaction if Foligno broke his hand?

what kind of msg was sent to Perry? next time, jump way higher to avoid a player on the ice?

I see your point, the hit didn’t seem intentional, but the good thing about the fight is that it provided some closure and allowed the players to move on with the game. Otherwise, one thing could have led to another and the game could have gotten nasty and turned into the wild, wild west.

... c'mon really?

one was a devastating freak occurrence... we see something like that every 5 yrs in pro sports. it’s always horrible to witness

the staged fight was upsetting, not because it’s a freak occurrence, but because it’s the opposite —a sanctioned part of the game (THE CODE) that’s celebrated.

it’s the senseless that I find offensive... what if Cole Caufield was the one who accidentally knocked out Tavares. Should he be pummelled for the phony sake of “closure”?

The fight was silly and useless but I have no idea why so much is being made of it really. He asked Perry to go, Perry said yes, they half-heartedly exchanged a few punches. It was kind of a nothing thing.

I’m just pointing out the other side, that the fight may have prevented much worse violent events from occurring. I’m not arguing the fight made a ton of sense otherwise.

Perry actually said no....Weber had a few words with Foligno to try to dissuade him... BUT THE CODE >>>>>

But the Code ended things last night, so that’s good. Perry didn’t even throw a punch,

Yeah, Perry wasn’t interested and turtled pretty quickly. We’re lucky it wasn’t Byron who landed on JT. He would have been knocked out like his previous dance with the CODE.... and who would have scored the game winner?

That incident with Byron two years ago is what led to his falling off a cliff all of a sudden....he got concussion, then was never the same again

C’mon give us 6 games. They’re allowing fans at the Bell Centre — don’t you want to win in front of a crowd?
It’s very good that a Hab fan admits the Leafs will win. Although, Leafs in 5.

I agree... the result was meaningless. Thankfully.

I was upset with the fight because the last thing anyone needed to see at that point was someone else get hurt.
