I feel ya, man.I live my life believing that the vast majority of people on this planet have good hearts, but reading things like this make me pause for a moment and reconsider my beliefs.
The majority do have good hearts. But there is a lot of evil out there and really not a lot of brave hearts.I feel ya, man.
Yeah ... I grew up in a weird time and was moved to a private school environment after spending some time learning how to defend myself in the turmoil of the process of our public schools being desegregated. I actually had an advantage over the entitled bullies in my new school because I actually had been in fights before, and I put my foot down on more than a few of them ... because I freaking hate bullies and always have. Did it make any difference in the long run? I have no idea ... probably only on the margins. None of the guys who were bullies in my prep school grew up to amount to anything, that much I know. But I also know that at least a couple of their targets also struggled. Bottom line ... life is messy and some people suck. The majority do have good hearts. But there is a lot of evil out there and really not a lot of brave hearts.
I know about being bullied though and few of the people with good hearts have brave enough hearts to intervene.
I’d like to think I’d have done something about it if I was their classmate. Even if it was just getting my ass kicked in solidarity.
I don’t see why it would it be any different in this day and age. If standing up to bullies was common there wouldn’t be bullies and there are.In this day and age you would hope that most of mankind would stand up to bully's and the act of bullying and chase and call out that kind of behavior. I am glad that the Bruins players stood up for the Miller signing and said "no way not on our watch"...that is what is supposed to happen when you see the brutal and poor judgment that Neely and Sweeney made!
You know when teachers aren't even alowed to tell kids to stop doing bad stuff or they get reported, then things like that will never stop.In this day and age you would hope that most of mankind would stand up to bully's and the act of bullying and chase and call out that kind of behavior. I am glad that the Bruins players stood up for the Miller signing and said "no way not on our watch"...that is what is supposed to happen when you see the brutal and poor judgment that Neely and Sweeney made!
That was supposed to happen back when I was a kid too, but it didn't. Some things change, but never as much as you'd think. A lot of our societal institutions are build mostly on blind faith and goodwill, a lot of it unearned. So when our systems come under pressure, they routinely buckle. One thing that doesn't seem to change ... there are a fair number of bad actors and crappy people in the world. In this day and age you would hope that most of mankind would stand up to bully's and the act of bullying and chase and call out that kind of behavior. I am glad that the Bruins players stood up for the Miller signing and said "no way not on our watch"...that is what is supposed to happen when you see the brutal and poor judgment that Neely and Sweeney made!
The Tempe City Council unanimously voted to send the Coyotes proposed arena and entertainment district to a public vote that will be held in May.
In Maricopa County, no less.Great, what Arizona needs....to count more votes.
IIRC, when the referendum was first mentioned, the article noted that there were no concerns about it being passed. I think they still need to withstand a couple of legal challenges but the biggest issue is, that no shovels in the ground until May, they’re probably playing the 24-25 season at Mullett Arena. So 3 years in a college rink. The city council is definitely on board, although from the reporting it seems like they took a bit more convincing than the Yotes thought they would. No telling how the public vote will go but, in general, municipalities have been supportive of arena and stadium projects so long as they're convinced of the stability of the franchise. While Arizona is NOT particularly stable as a franchise, you certainly can't say the NHL isn't 100% invested in the market. You also can't say why that's the case, because no one can.
Jeez. Werenski can't seem to catch a break. Seems like every time that guy gets hurt, it's long term stuff.Aaron Portzline, who covers the Jackets for The Athletic tweeted that Zach Werenski has a torn labrum and separated shoulder and his season is over.
