I find it odd that the Canes have ZERO prospects in the Canadian Major Juniors. I know they are well represented in the US colleges & European leagues, but nothing at all in Canada. It looks as though the Canadian juniors are possibly going through a phase.

Canes haven’t drafted from the CHL since 2021, when Robert Orr, Justin Robidas and Bryce Montgomery were picked. It’s been heavy on international players and guys headed to college from either the USHL or BCHL.
In the last 5 drafts, the Canes drafted 50 players; 28 international players, 9 from the CHL, 8 from the BCHL or USHL, 4 from US high schools and 1 from college.
It's not like the Canes have out and out avoided Canadian juniors in the draft and more that the current prospect pool is largely a reflection of the last three drafts. During that time Russian players were wildly under-values due to availability constraints and the Canes decided that American colleges were as good a development program as their own minor league system. Kind of a double whammy there.

At the World Juniors, Czechia stormed back from a 5-3 deficit at the end of 2 to take the bronze over Finland 8-5. Jakub Vondras saw his first action of the tournament coming on in relief only 7:43 into the game, after the starter allowed 2 goals on 3 shots. Vondras gave up 3 more but finished with 13 saves on 16 shots.
