I still remember having to get my hockey fix by watching Capitals games. And the Blinky Albert/Craig Laughlin combo might be the worst all time.

Pot, meet kettle! :)
To be fair, I like plenty of sports broadcasters and at least am prepared to tolerate quite a few who work in hockey. It's just that we have this exact same conversation every spring and I'm getting sick of it. On THAT score I'm a grumpy old man.

Joe Benninati is awful, Laughlin is too. At least Jack Edwards had Andy Brickley who was decent enough.

I grew up with Marv Albert (later Jim Gordon) and Bill “The Big Whistle” Chadwick on Rangers broadcasts. Chadwick was the first American NHL referee and was blind in one eye. Chadwick is also credited with inventing the hand signals that are used today.

Denis Potvin (Florida's color man for most of their run) was 100% the worst and most loathsome person to ever to do color in the NHL. Worse than Laughlin, worse than those studio drunks in Buffalo, worse than whomever anybody wants to suggest. But yeah, the combo of Laughlin with that idiot Albert was probably the worst NHL booth of my adult lifespan.

In college we used to place bets on how many times Kenny would blink on camera. The answer was usually 5 or less an entire game.

The team is practicing today, Pesce is still not on the ice, so TDA is in unless we get a Comtois-like surprise.

Per Chip, Andersen is in the starter’s crease.

PP1: Skjei, Aho, Teravainen, Guentzel, Jarvis

PP2: Burns, Necas, Kuznetsov, Svechnikov, Noesen

Well, DeAngelo added nothing to the PP aside from short handed chances against, so ... yeah. Otherwise, we're talking deck chairs on the Titanic unless they can start working out how to open some passing lanes.

I'm all about TDA not being on the ice. He's a weak link and the first one on the roster to lose his cool & do something stupid. I was relieved when he was let go and never thought the Hurricanes would be dumb/desperate enough to pick him back up, even at a bargain bin price.
