2023-24 NHL Misc. Thread

There is exactly zero reason for ANY of this to have happened if the restricted movement clause was standard and included in the contract in the normal way ... right from jump street. Vegas obviously didn't know it existed or else they wouldn't have botched the trade to the Ducks and if we're making snap judgements between the actions of Vegas' very professional and well oiled front office and the dumpster fire that is the Sens front office, yeah. I know where my money is. Dorien got fired today, but OBVIOUSLY should have been gone years ago. And would have been in virtually any other organization.
And Andlauer is pissed that the league didn’t disclose either the Dadonov or Pinto investigations while he was negotiating to buy the team.

Oh, I think what the league did by withholding or delaying release of information in those cases was borderline fraud. He should be absolutely livid.

The Rangers put Adam Fox on LTIR, Filip Chytil on IR and recalled Golaie Louis Domingue to back up Jonathan Quick because Shesterkin was banged up last night.

Looks like Jack Hughes might be out for a while for the Devils as well. It looked pretty serious, but they're still evaluating.

Carolina's prolly going to have to provide Aho with a security escort the next time they play the Rangers. You know Trouba will want his head on a platter.

And I expect the refs to provide absolutely no security..

Another Black Ace from the Blackhawks 2010 championship team has filed a lawsuit against the team. He had been identified as Black Ace 1 in the Jenner & Block report.

That Jack Hughes injury seems like it's bad, but not long term bad. Prolly broke something - maybe the collarbone? He's going to be out "week to week", but they won't IR him.

At some point you'd think even the NHL will start to be question if the Wirtz family should continue in ownership. You let the Dad be an absolute disgrace for decades and now the sons can't even protect their players from predation ... or stand up for them once they've been victimized. You've pretty much reached the stage where you couldn't do much worse. Avoid Michael Jordan, obviously, but otherwise ...

Correct. Trouba has an open head hunting permit, based on his history
A violent, two handed slash to the back of his knee may be in order.

And tell Fox to keep his god damned leg in tight next time and he won't get hurt so badly. Or just stomp him into a mud spot.

Caps GM Brian MacClellan said he doesn’t expect Nicklas Backstrom back on the ice any time soon, if ever. He hopes he’ll still be around the team during the season. The Caps have not put him on LTIR yet but will do so soon. Backstrom‘s cap hit is $9.2 million through next season.

Our long national nightmare is over.

The Sharks won a game, beating the Flyers, 2-1. And the Flyers’ skid continues, 3-6-1 in their last 10, next to last in the conference on points percentage.

Meanwhile ... in Edmonton ... they are charmed that you are discussing other black hole squads and wondering what the differences are between them and the Oilers

I honestly forgot that Ross Colton was a cap casualty in Tampa. While I appreciate the instinct to make Meier shut up (especially since he's just there to posture) maybe don't whack him in the face with your stick next time.

No suspension, a $5,000 fine.

Probably fair. I don't think he's had any significant priors unless we're talking general d-baggery. While I'm not into victim shaming, Meier could have guaranteed a different outcome if he had either showed up to rumble or just shut up in general. I've got very little sympathy for those who want to make a big show out of not actually defending their teammates.

The Sharks beat the Oilers last night, they each have 5 points on the season, but the Oilers have played 1 fewer gsme.

Why do Ken Holland and Jay Woodcroft still have jobs?
