2023 Draft and UFA Thread

Schlock reporting
Me thinks Bobrov’s going to have to make a mega sales pitch to overcome Hughes’ natural bias for Smith & Leonard who he personally coached - knows players & families well

wouldn’t surprise me if Habs draft a disproportionate # of 2015 birth year American kids that Hughes is familiar with

Unless a team really wants Michkov and he walks away with two 5-10 picks somehow. I could see that and then he takes Leonard and Reinbacher. I would not be upset at something along those lines.

Arizona has 6 & 12.

If Hughes gleans that they want Michkov maybe 5 & Panthers pick for 6 & 12?

I'd probably do that deal.
Tempting. I’m fairly certain that Arizona would pick Michkov if we don’t. The trick part is convincing them that we’re both willing to pick him or let them have him for a prize.

Man that's close. It's certainly the "safe" play if you can make it happen... but I think I would rather have Michkov and Musty/Perreault/Gauthier....

Leonard and Dvorsky/Yager/Sale could be great... but I don't see any of them becoming superstars like Michkov could.

Such a Montreal trash drafting move to take Ryan Leonard at 5, passing on real talent. Kid will end up being a decent 3rd liner, maybe 15-20 g max and Michkov will be a perennial all-star

But we're talking two solid players. Sure likely not elite but in the very good category

I'm not sure the probability of hitting on #12 makes up for missing out on Michkov. Our #21-32 pick could very well land us a very good player.
