2023 Draft and UFA Thread

I'm not sure if disappointed is exactly the right word. I just believe that Michkov is the best option of this team in the long run. But yeah, any of the projected top 5 can't really be "disappointing."
If he's going to be as productive in the NHL as most seem to believe, then yeah, not getting him would be disappointing to me.

Smith might be a poor man’s Joe Thornton. Nowhere near as big but very cerebral player who doesn’t have great speed but can control the tempo of play when he’s on the ice.

The thing is, we’re going to go off the board from 5 and take Leonard or Wood or some reach and we’ll all be pissed.
I don't think so. I know the way Hughes thinks and it's always asset management. Always. If he thinks he can pick up another first, even in another year, to drop down a couple three spots and still get the guy he likes? He'll do it. If they announce a trade when we're up he's walking. Otherwise he's taking whomever is left of the five.

That's how I see it shaking out anyway

Hugo is very thorough and always has the Habs best interest in every move for today or tomorrow

I dont see them reaching or making a dumb move like Nero

They exhaust every angle before making a decision

For me I hope a top 4 team takes the Michkov decision out for us

Yes, we finally have analytical and capable leadership. So far.

I was impressed with their take on the draft last year and why they took Slaf. Nemec may still turn out to be the prize but we're loaded with D prospects.

shit….that’s where I get scared….you need speed in today’s NHL….If Fresh Prince of Bel Air doesn’t have elite speed, we’re screwed

Yeah. They said that about Gretzky too

He's not Gretzky but how about giving the kid a chance. I haven't read anything overly concerning about his skating.

Yes but in all fairness, you couldn’t breath on Gretzky without getting a penalty, while Lemieux had to deke 3 players while carrying 2 other players on his back, and no ref ever called a penalty

Unless Fresh Prince gets the Gretzky treatment, he needs to have elite skating to be a difference maker for Habs….but I’m just going by what Krusty said, because I trust him, he’s never been wrong once on this board…not once
