2023 Draft and UFA Thread

I like Boisvert too man but he's wrong a lot too. Maybe he's at a 33% when others are at 15. I'll give him that but he's been wrong plenty as well.
There's a much bigger gap than that.

And yeah, he's wrong too, such is the environment of drafting 18 year olds and trying to figure what they'll be at 23. He liked Nischuskin above MacKinnon, he liked Jost above most in the 2016 draft (also had Laine above Matthews). There are other examples of him being wrong too. But when he's right, boy is he right.

However, another reason I will listen to Boisvert more than I would Pronman, or Wheeler, or anyone else in the scouting space: He will go out on a limb for players he likes and he doesn't do it for clickbait.

He's the only one - and I do mean the only one - who correctly predicted what Cale Makar would become. He predicted he'd be a multiple time Norris finalist and one of the best d-men in hockey. And then you have people like Pronman who had him in the mid-teens.

He is right more often than not. Doesn't make him the gospel, doesn't make him impervious to mistakes, but it makes him someone that has much more credibility than the other people who do this.

I take it all with a grain of salt. Some just take more salt.

Doesn't anymore. He used to spend time on Twitter, but he got tired of the bullshit that came from people who told him he didn't know what he was doing.
Understandable but why not a blog like literally everyone else. You have to parse various podcasts to get like 4-5 of his opinions.

The annual Drette Sul Tappe podcasts are the best ways to get his thoughts.

I also wish he had a blog, but alas. I think he got hired by Recrutes to do his rankings for a year or two, not sure when it started/ended, though.

Craig Button's new rankings.
Not a fan of Reinbacher it seems.

Also reinforce my view that the step from Smith to the rest isn't as big as we might think.
