1 year deal, 6 mill. He gets his dream to play for Habs, we incorporate some talent and scoring to play with our young guys. It satisfies the fans, shows we want to compete but also doesn’t tie up our cap for years to come. Duchene gets to try and get a big pay day elsewhere when cap goes up. Win-Win

Detroit traded for Klim Kostin & Kailer Yamamoto in return for future considerations. So, just took on two contracts Edmonton was giving away for free.
The next day, they're buying out Kailer Yamamoto and they're not qualifying Klim Kostin.

Unlike Dubois though, his market improves next year when the cap rises and he’s probably looking at just a 1 year deal plus gets to scratch playing for habs off his list and then cash next year or get traded to a contender
