2023 Draft and UFA Thread

They both look like the kind of Hobson's Choice that the Habs are faced with damn near every year. You can take this Russian kid who's a good scorer but he's undersized so while he could become the next Pavel Bure he has an equal chance of becoming the next Valeri Bure or this hulking defenseman who's good but not an elite puck mover who puts up numbers and wins Norris trophies. Even when we pick first overall we do it in a year when there's no clear-cut #1 guy but a coin flip that requires a 3 sided coin.
Cole Eiserman all the way, baby!

Haha. Next yr’s mock already out.
Russian vs Dman controversy part II

3. Montreal Canadiens: Ivan Demidov, RW, SKA-MHL

Demidov was one of the best, if not arguably the best player in Russia’s junior league this past season. He’s a dynamo with the puck, displaying truly elite skill to go with excellent playmaking ability. He’s so creative and elusive and creates scoring chances seemingly every shift. He combines great puck play with a very strong motor. Demidov lacks size but is a determined player who wins battles, gets to the net and gives strong second efforts. His skating stride is awkward but powerful. There are a lot of indicators he’ll be a great pro wing.

4. Arizona Coyotes: Sam Dickinson, LHD, London-OHL

If you want to draw up an ideal NHL defenseman, it’s going to look a lot like Dickinson. He’s a mobile 6-foot-3 defender with a high motor and offense in his game. I wouldn’t call him the most instinctive puck-mover in the world, but he has good skill and can make some plays. He’s also a shot threat. That Dickinson can create offense at NHL speeds is the exciting part. He projects to be a very good two-way defender at the pro level who will make a lot of stops due to his length, feet and compete.

Don't sleep on Allen having a run when we least need it.

That said, I'm going for wins this year, two years is enough for me to swallow.
I just want continued growth and player development , the wins can come later

Need a clearer picture of who fits long term and our prospects improving

If Michkov is kind of a prick/brat like Patrick Kane or Marchand apparently are, then avoiding him for personality reasons is silly as those teams have been highly succesful anyways. Or maybe he's a truly disruptive type that people can't stand and it affects teammate's play, I don't know if there's really anyone like that, maybe someone like Avery or Ribeiro. Hopefully the front office has enough years of experience to know what types of guys should really be avoided.

Kovalev 2.0? Who coincidentally is Russian and the only Hab player who hit 80+ points in the last 25 years.
Who’s also a highly educated research engineer, and pilot - there were never rumors of any kind about Kovalev not fitting in with teammates / in a locker-room…. Unlike Michkov
