29-32 or 37 would be fine for Dubois.
Jean-Charles Lavoie & PLD.Of course Montreal media is now doing the dumbest thing and trying to push the narrative not to draft Michkov and would rather have a French player or big body. That’s exactly why this team will never have a 100 point player and hasn’t in forever. Too obsessed with language and size over actual game breaking talent
That's my ideal scenario as well.NHL Mock Draft 1.0: How does Scott Wheeler see the first round after Connor Bedard?
With the NHL Draft Lottery complete, The Athletic's Scott Wheeler tried to figure out which players could go where in the first round.theathletic.com
5. Montreal Canadiens: Matvei Michkov, RW, SKA St. Petersburg
So it was ok to draft AKos in 2003 trying for the home run and falling flat on their face vs Getzlaf, Perry, etc?Maybe I'm just convincing myself of what I want... but to me it's more forgivable to take a chance on the Russian kid and it goes wrong than playing it "safe" and it goes wrong.
Like if you play it safe by taking Smith at 5 and he busts while MM becomes a star and is playing in the NHL at 21 or younger, you look like a fool. If you take Michkov and he ends up being stuck in Russia it would absolutely suck... but at least you swung for the fences.
It's different. We took him in spite of concerns about his health and work ethic. That turned out to be a bad choice. Michkov is ALL political. So it was ok to draft AKos in 2003 trying for the home run and falling flat on their face vs Getzlaf, Perry, etc?
Meh. Not a centre. And not big.If moving down , get Barlow who is close to playing in NHL
YepYou'll be sad when Dubois becomes a Hab eh?
Smith I'd be okay with because at least he is a centre but if they are not picking michkov they better not be picking a winger.Maybe I'm just convincing myself of what I want... but to me it's more forgivable to take a chance on the Russian kid and it goes wrong than playing it "safe" and it goes wrong.

It’ll be D - Orville RedenbacherSmith I'd be okay with because at least he is a centre but if they are not picking michkov they better not be picking a winger.
Ya. We can find okay talent in the middle of the first (where we will be picking next year). You almost never get elite talent outside the top 10.Playing it safe is a lot more understandable when you've already got the elite talent assembled on your team.
Until you've actually got that elite talent, though? You need to do everything in your power to get it.
His nickname has to be Colonel... or Kernal I guess. It’ll be D - Orville Redenbacher
Nah. They won't reach for a dman.It’ll be D - Orville Redenbacher
Yep. AgreedIf we're not taking Michkov at 5, and assuming he isn't taken before us, I'd strongly consider moving back a couple slots if we could get an extra second round pick.
For another 1st maybe, not a 2nd. Plus I don’t really like moving down unless you’re pretty sure to get the guy you wanted all along, otherwise just pick your guy.If we're not taking Michkov at 5, and assuming he isn't taken before us, I'd strongly consider moving back a couple slots if we could get an extra second round pick.
Regardless, it’s extremely unlikely that both MM and Smith will be available at 5. Huge money on CBJ or SJ taking one of them.Maybe I'm just convincing myself of what I want... but to me it's more forgivable to take a chance on the Russian kid and it goes wrong than playing it "safe" and it goes wrong.
