Amen to that! My son always says to me with my Canes bitching “Dad, you’re being too negative”…I usually counter with a “do you want to make a wager”…which sends him running to hide his piggy bank. She sounds smart![]()

I approve this message (except the bit about your wife. My wife is fairly positive on the team). Honestly, I've stopped posting this sentiment because nobody seems to want to hear it and I feel like I'm just annoying people. You guys are starting to sound like my wife after every loss.
It's not like the teams behind us in the Metro are rolling and are poised to overtake us at any moment. We are in bad stretch, but we won 2 of the last 3 and the game we lost was a tight 1 goal game against a good team.
How spoiled have we become?
I don't 100% disagree with this, but some of the previous points have us sliding out of the playoff picture completely or losing in the first round. It’s not being spoiled to expect them to play at least somewhere approaching their ability.... The sell at the deadline is a reaction to the fact that the present team/staff is underperforming and has been for 3 years. That doesn’t mean they’ve not been a good team. It means they’ve accepted being a lesser team than they could have been. Something needs to change.
Beating the Sabres at home and then having to go to OT to beat Calgary at home is really not saying much. That is pretty middle of the road. That’s what I’d expect from a borderline playoff team.We just won 2 out of 3 (you would think we have lost 6 in row given some of the sentiment here).
This response basically sums up why I've been reluctant to be honest on this site lately. Post a bland, vaguely positive opinion, get called a crackhead.Y’all are on crack if you’re satisfied with how this team has played since Thanksgiving. Has nothing to do with what anyone expected in the offseason. It has to do with knowing that the players on this team are underperforming. They’re failing at basic stuff. Their level of play is unacceptable and has persisted since November. But I guess we’re supposed to somehow think they’re going to turn it around. We all agree that they can play much better.
Got the same messages last season when observing they were not playing well for extended stretches (but still getting wins)… that “they’re fine”… they were not fine.
Learning to play “good enough” through the season last year was the reason they didn’t make the finals. Sure they want to be better but they’re not doing what it takes to get there.

I usually am on board with pretty much most of your thoughts Cmal but the one thing right now that still stands out to me about this team is the inconsistency that seems to cut deeper than some of the other years. The defense has been the real calling card of this team in years past but they are weaker this year in that department, so maybe find a veteran depth D that can take the load off and give this team some options on D...Slavin not saddled with declining guys like Burns, Orlov given the night off or two if he sucks...they need better D to go anywhere against the big boys in the East. I think this team has enough up front to play well if Rantanen and Hall eventually blend into this mix, maybe they find a depth C to slide into the mix as a better option than Jost...but the group as it stands today is not overflowing with confidence to me, we all have our opinions, but something is amiss with this specific group.I don't 100% disagree with this, but some of the previous points have us sliding out of the playoff picture completely or losing in the first round.
That to me is pretty extreme given that:
* We are in 2nd place in the Division
* The team 2 points behind us (with one more game played than us) just lost their best offensive weapon to a significant injury
There are only 21 games left in the season. We just won 2 out of 3 (you would think we have lost 6 in row given some of the sentiment here).
Yes I want us to play better and think they can/should. Would it be great if we could make more improvements before the trade deadline? Absolutely! But I think it's being a bit over the top fatalistic to bury this team already as a first round exit or playoff miss waiting to happen.

Yea but the reality is that barring some injury, that ain’t gonna happen. And the 3rd pairing which is the most likely for change includes the only dman that seems capable of running a PP. From the penthouse to the doghouse in the span of one year, as my dad would say.Maybe it's time to bring Morrow up and give him some real NHL shifts, probably by sitting Burns and Orlov in rotation. Could be a short and long-term win.
So you’re saying that GMET is not worth his weight in Twinkies and is the only GM in the league that would’ve made that deal without signing assurances? Don’t agree with either of those.Any GM worth his weight in Twinkies will want verbal assurance from Rants and his agent that he will sign wherever it is. They're not going to give that assurance, and GMs arent going to gamble.
You can’t out Pizza the Hut.https://thehockeywriters.com/hurricanes-should-be-targeting-bruins-geekie-tufte-in-a-trade/
I think I would welcome this trade. Not sure if the writer has Bruins ties or if he just needed to post trade deadline related content, but it wouldn't crush me to see Geekie back. He could be the RH Center the Hurricanes are missing. Iwas disappointedwhen the Kraken picked him off Carolina's roster. Iam quitesure GMET intends to shuffle the deck once more before the end of the deadline.
What thinks you?
