Well yes, if it’s true he would agree to a sign and trade with other teams. The downside for the Canes is if those teams know this, why wouldn’t they wait til summer. Unless they need him for a playoff run in which case we’d be trading him at rental rates. Not sure why anyone would pay a premium to us to get him now.OK, if Mikko wants to look later, then that tells me he's not gonna ever sign with the Canes. I don't think our team is strong enough to have a good playoff run with or without him, so we might as well try and get something in return by tomorrow.
Nope, I’m pretty sure NHL rules say a player cannot be traded back to the same team in the same season.Well yes, if it’s true he would agree to a sign and trade with other teams. Is it also possible the team he’s talking about is Colorado. Could that happen - him signed and traded back?
More and more feeling like GMET made a mistake on this.
So he’d apparently agree to an extension with another team before the deadline just not here. Seems like that means the best value we get is a playoff run. Expensive freaking rental.Nope, I’m pretty sure NHL rules say a player cannot be traded back to the same team in the same season.
Rants wont go back to those star numbers without Makar and Nate feeding himI really hope the Canes find a trade today for Rantanen. I understand that this situation was on the team's mind last night based on the postgame comments, but I don't think Rantanen's head has been in the game since he arrived. Even if Rantanen is not dealt and he knows he is staying in Carolina for the end of the season, I'm not sure he is going to shake out of things and suddenly become effective. He has looked completely disinterested out there quite a bit. I know the analytic numbers say he has been ok, but the eye test certainly doesn't.
We pretty much are assured that if Rantanen is dealt and it includes an 8 year contract extension, he will suddenly turn back into his superstar self. The Canes lineup might benefit from 'addition by subtraction' if they can move Rantanen.
This truly has been a huge distraction, the post game remarks from Rod and Aho among others you could see and hear the load they are dealing with...it needs to be put to bed. Mikko's head is not into it here, how is a guy like that supposed to be the big dog for a playoff run here now? Canes management is in a damned if they do damned if they don't scenario...bold trade great risk takers one minute then what the hell were you thinking next, can't win!I really hope the Canes find a trade today for Rantanen. At some point Dumbdon has to have the details ironed out before you make a dealThis truly has been a huge distraction, the post game remarks from Rod and Aho among others you could see and hear the load they are dealing with...it needs to be put to bed. That's a great point to ponder...and sadly the NHL seems to be stuck in the old boy network ways and rules that say these types of big trades should only happen in the summer to get maximum value. The Canes doing things in unconventional ways seem to piss off the mainstream hockey media and to some extent the GM's too. The urgency now to get a sign and trade done up against the deadline appears to be the real challenge to maximize the return. If Rants was never going to sign here, then I think you have to look only through the lens of what a Necas & Drury and a pick is worth as fair value in the market...So what else would you be willing to move for Rantanen w/ a contract in place? Because it would have taken more than Necas/Drury.
Not being a jerk, honestly want to know what a deal for Rants w/ term looks like to folks.
He’s the reeking steam rising from the top of the pile.Haula should have his own pile.
