Exactly. Tulsky is failing miserably.

The Avs wouldn’t grant permission to speak with him or his agent before the deal. So if Tulsky held firm, the deal wouldn’t have gotten done. Which in hindsight isn’t awful, but do we want Tulsky to take big swings at what looked for all the world to be a top 5 player, or be Ron flipping Francis and watch the team deteriorate around him?

Who? Rantanen? You can't talk to a player on another team about signing them to a contract when they are already under contract with that other team. Tulsky would be breaking that rule if he had those conversations with Rantanen. Was he supposed to use ESP or somethign?

If I recall correctly, Necas led the team in points last playoff season. Of course, that ain't saying much

Necas playoff journey now goes through Big D...tall order now, yikes.

Stankhoven (if we don't flip him) might be a 20 goal guy down the road, but you can't stick him out there with Aho and Jarvis. Listed as a center, but not likely going to find success there. He's a - faceoff guy, but he is a right handed shot (so at 46.5%, he would be our #1 right handed faceoff option).

Even with the sign and trade the canes didn’t have much leverage. Everyone knew he didn’t want to be here. So Dallas could have waited til summer and signed him then for nothing or a third round pick.

Not mad at anyone at this point. GMET did what the fans wanted - went big and got a supposed superstar player that we've been missing. He couldn't talk to Rantanen or his agent, so he took a shot and unfortunately it didn't work. The way Rantanen played with us, it could be a blessing that the deal is kaput. Don't blame Necas, whom I'm sure was upset at being traded and now is having the time of his life. And I don't even blame Rantanen, since he was blindsided by the trade. If he didn't want to be here it means he's a dickwad and we don't need him.
