2024-25 Canes Miscellaneous Thread

https://thehockeywriters.com/hurricanes-should-be-targeting-bruins-geekie-tufte-in-a-trade/
I think I would welcome this trade. Not sure if the writer has Bruins ties or if he just needed to post trade deadline related content, but it wouldn't crush me to see Geekie back. He could be the RH Center the Hurricanes are missing. Iwas disappointedwhen the Kraken picked him off Carolina's roster. Iam quitesure GMET intends to shuffle the deck once more before the end of the deadline.

What thinks you?

Disclaimer: I have never done and have no intetions of ever doing crack.

Zach covers the Canes for THW as well as being the host of 2 Canes podcasts. That being said, sports radio Boston agrees that they feel Geekie is gone as his stock will likely never be higher, and they expect Geekie, Carlo, and maybe Coyle to be gone, with Marchand likely not being moved per his preference.

NHL Network on Sirius guys reporting along with Dave Pagnotta that Mikko is willing to do a sign and trade with a few select teams...the plot thickens...

Well if THAT is true (Mikko is perfectly fine taking 8 years from some OTHER team that he hasn't even spent one second with or talking to) then I will personally drive him to the airport if GMET finds a suitable trade.

That fact does improve the Canes trade position, so I at least applaud Mikko for that. But I don't want him around here if he is that closed off to any commitment to this organization but perfectly willing to sign that contract immediately with someone else without any courting at all, even right before the trade deadline.

Pack your sh!@$# and get the hell out of here Mikko!

If we trade a superstar with 7 years of control we better be getting a huge return.
The problem is, this time of year, who is really giving up that much of a return in a trade? Those deals usually go down in the summer. This whole story is half truths and half fabricated media bluster to make it a much spicier trade deadline week!!!

For a sign and trade? That opens it up to everyone. Not just playoff contenders. But his list is probably Florida, Edmonton,Dallas. So…. Kachuck for Rantanan.

LA is lurking according to the rumor mill...and you gotta think if there is any truth at all about Mikko wanting a "sexier" market, LA fits the bill. Mikko for Byfield and Brandt Clarke...who says no in here???

I said a couple weeks ago signs were pointing to him not wanting to be here and GMET should plan accordingly so we don’t have another Guentel situation

OK, if Mikko wants to look later, then that tells me he's not gonna ever sign with the Canes. I don't think our team is strong enough to have a good playoff run with or without him, so we might as well try and get something in return by tomorrow. Having said that, I really wanted him to stay because you can see how good he is, even if he isn't playing up to expectations right now.

I elieve I'm coming to the understanding of why Colorado cut him loose. I'd rather have a player who wants to be here.

Not quite ready to say [Polar's word] him, but I'm thinking about it.
I was really pumped when Rantanen came here as to how much better he could make the team. He obviously doesn't think in those same terms.
Hoping GMET scores a sweet offer.
