2024-25 Hurricanes Prospects and Minors Thread

Chicago Wolves last week:

Mar 25 @Rockford W 5-4(Shootout) Tokarski with the win. Brind'Amour, Stillman, Nadeau and Robidas with the Goals. Suzuki and Nadeau both scored in the shootout (won 2-0)
Mar 26 @Iowa W 4-3(OT) Tokarski with the win. Suzuki, Unger Sorum and, Nadeau x2 (including the OT winner) with the goals
Mar 29 Coachella L 3-2(OT) Martin with the OT loss. Brind'Amour, and Robidas with the Goals.
Mar 30 Coachella L 4-0 Khazheyev with the loss (41 shots faced).

Chicago remains on the cusp of locking down a playoff spot.

Nadeau still leads the team in goals (by a lot) with 27...good for T7th in the AHL. He leads Chicago with 49 points.
Suzuki still leads the team in Assists (39) which is good for T7th in the AHL

And I will apologize to Skyler Brind'Amour, who I called out as just being a favor to RBA and useless filler. He has 15 goals (and 6 assists) in 62 games. His 15 goals is THIRD on the Wolves. He is also -14, making him -30 in 116 AHL games.

3 Games this week Wed @Grand Rapids, Sat/Sun @Manitoba

Serious Question for those who follow our prospects closely. Other than Nikishin, is there anyone in the pipeline who we consider to be a top 6 F or top 4 D prospect?

The Wolves have another chance to clinch a playoff spot wither with a point against Grand Rapids or an Iowa loss at Texas.

Artamonov maybe? He had 22 goals as a 19 year old in the KHL.
He'll need to back it up to prove that this season's numbers weren't just some insane early season hot streak. I do think he's got Top 6 potential, but he's not there yet. Closer to home, I know the club is high on Nadeau, Robidas and Unger Sorum, but the later two are probably longer term projects. Nadeau found his offense in the second half of the season in Chicago and could be close if he can back it up with a strong offseason and a good camp.

On D, I honestly don't see much aside from Nikishin and Morrow. Everybody else looks like depth, but sometimes those guys take a big step in their mid 20s.

I agree that Nadeau has top six potential.

I would definitely say Nadeau is looking like a potential Top 6 forward and Morrow a Top 4 D. Unger Sorum is definitely a maybe top 6 guy :)

If you squint really hard and have a huge amount of faith, Joel Nystrom MIGHT be an NHL 3rd pair guy.

BTW, if you're concerned about organizational depth in goal, you should also be hoping that the club starts drafting centers that they actually plan to see playing the actual position at some point. I can't count how many converted wingers they've collected, while Suzuki and Drury are pretty much the entire list of drafted centers who never tinkered around on the wing.

With his KHL season over, Artamonov is playing for Gorky in the VHL with Krutov and Pelevin.

Good. I've heard good things about that kid, but the sooner you get defensemen playing in North America the better. It's just such a different environment unless you're playing in Russia.

SKA St Petersburg stays alive with an OT in Moscow. Nikishin had a go-ahead goal with 7 1/2 minutes left but Moscow pulled the goalie and tied it. Series is now 3-2 Moscow. It’s a very tight series. Three of the 5 games have needed extra time. Back to St Pete for Game 6 Sunday afternoon.
