Why can’t you?

If it’s an egregious play that rises to the level of suspension why not? It’s not like any player is going to happily be out for the season just to keep a suspension going. And so what if they do? Why not error on the side of don’t be an irresponsible ass instead of boys will be boys?

They could start by not tying DPS's hands with the ridiculous fine limits and suspension criteria. It's gonna take the next CBA negotiation and both sides will have to actually be willing to give some ground, but I think fans are ticked off enough to push the conversation. The league managed to reduce fighting, which they had to do for liability reasons if nothing else, but they left a void in its place that the current discipline structures just cannot even begin to address. It's time to throw it all out and start from scratch.

Will they? God, no. This is still the NHL we're talking about.
 
First time ever the US goes back to back.

Czechia beat Sweden to win the Bronze. It was decided in the 14th round of the shootout. Unger Sorum missed his only attempt.
 
The state of Florida gets both outdoor games next year

Winter Classic - Panthers v. Rangers, January 2 at LoanDepot Park, home of the Miami Marlins
Stadium Series - Lightning v. Bruins, February 1 at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Bucs
 
Yeah, LOTS of think pieces on how the outdoor games have lost their appeal this winter. And I agree, at least with the New Years game ... but hosting them in non-traditional locales might give a bit of a boost. Especially since both Florida teams are relevant at the same time. The league still couldn't resist leaning back into their old bad habits by making sure the opponents would be Northeastern US stalwarts though. Like anybody really wants to see yet another Rangers or Bruins throwback jersey, much less buy one of the dumb things.
 
Due to the wildfires in SoCal, tonight’s Kings game against the Flames has been postponed. While the Pcific Palisades Fire is attracting the most attention, there are 3 other fires north and east of LA.

The blue dot is my sister’s house. Her husband’s motorcycle shop is in the Eaton Fire evacuation zone, earlier today, it was doubl8ng in size every 30 minutes.

My best friend growing up now lives in Burbank, surrounded by all 4 of those fires. Sent out an 'are you safe?' check earlier today - just heard back that they're safe from the fires for now but the winds have also been causing extended power outages for their area.

Stuff can be replaced, glad everyone is safe.

My sister is staying put for now, she says everything seems as OK as it’s going to be. That was a few hours ago. As of 5:30 her time, the Sunset fire popped up, 4 miles from her house, 0% contained.
