2024-25 NHL Misc. Thread

Jani Hakanpaa has been ruled out of the 4 Nations Face-Off due to ongoing injury issues. Miro Heiskanen was ruled out earlier this week, so the Finns are down 2 dmen. They named 7 to the roster but only 11 Finns have played in the NHL this season.

Yea, ole Jerry Flackenpoo has been battling injuries the couple of seasons

I don't get it. There were two officials watching, one right on top of the play, and the official across the ice is the one that calls the penalty? Are the two closest officials not allowed to call penalties or something? And the one right on top of the play gives the safe or all good sign with his arms.

(I don't know anything about which official gets to do what other than the one that pretends to drop a puck on a faceoff and yells "psych" at one of them and kicks him out of the circle. That's a pretty sweet job.)

Linesmen don't call penalties; referees do. (Referees, however, can consult with linesmen on penalty calls.)

The Canes won’t have to worry about Ryan Hartman on Thursday night. He was offered an in-person hearing after getting a match penalty last night for pile driving Tim Stutzle’s head into the ice on a faceoff.

Man, throw out the CBA on that one and sit Hartman for the year. That's not a hockey play and shouldn't be covered by hockey rules. That was assault and battery.

This will be Hartman’s 5th suspension. He was suspended last April for throwing his stick at a referee, so he’s a repeat offender.

Honestly, the guy shouldn't be playing at this level anymore. The fact that he managed to look shocked at the call says it all. Dude, if you can't recognize THAT as a near criminal act then I'm not sure how to help you other than to suggest another line of work. I dunno. Combat sports maybe.

Oh, and our old friend Noesen deserves whatever he gets for that BS hit to the head. You've got to climb a freaking ladder to get to Thompson's dome, which means you've got to want it. Screw that noise.

Hartman’s hearing is at noon today via Zoom. The Wild are wrapping up a road trip in Boston tomorrow before heading home to face the Canes on Thursday.

Lol. Just looked at Hartman's contract and they're well and truly stuck with the idiot. He's got two years left at $4 AAV and a full no movement clause.

Hartman needs to go back to riding the minor league bus until he understands it is a privledge to play in the NHL. If you're going to play goon hockey, go play in the minor leagues where it's accepted & expected. The NHL needs to tighten up its officiating to cut this B.S. 100% out of the League.

Matt Rempe's role model
Rempe would be the type to pull that same type of thing but then claim he was simply the bigger man landing on top of a smaller man…glad the NHL for a change decided to take something seriously and dole out a double digit suspension.
