Connelly? That might be it. And he’s a winger. Who are the top tier centres in this draft who will move the ball more than Suzuki already can with Slafkovsky?

Yet HuGo needs to make a choice.
Here’s the thing. With this draft, there is a greater likelihood that we will be able to build an elite D1 than there to build an elite forward tandem. We would need Demidov to fall to 5.
Others? Maybe, I guess. There are questions re: Lindstrom and Catton. The others are wingers, so that anoints Dach as 2C. Is that what we want? Would that be better than having an elite D1 for a generation and trading Matheson and 26 for some help up front?

The idea behind drafting a forward at 5 is to average closer to 3 goals per game.

A better skating Scheiffle with a touch more skill
Habs are close to 3 goals a game but maybe giving up .5 goals a game less makes a bigger difference
Need an impact player at 5 at any position

Yah, I mean he’s got the athletic profile, eh. I guess I’ve been swayed by the negative stuff here - low ceiling, bad back. Low IQ. A big guy dominating smaller players. A Benoit Pouliot career.
But if he hits on all cylinders, yeah, he would likely be worth a 5 pick.
