2025-26 Canes Miscellaneous Thread

Agreed. Legault looks like someone who could be an NHL #5/6 defender down the road. Nystrom is playable too, but I could see Legault as an NHL regular at some point in time.
I think Legault can be a 3/4 pairing down the road. He seems like a smart player and he works hard. Kind of reminds me of Chatfield when he first got here but a little less polished. I’m a little more bullish on Nystrom than others are and think he can be an NHL regular 5/6, but that is his ceiling.

Yeah, Nystrom is a placeholder while Legault has grown into an actual NHL prospect. In the short term however, Nystrom has more pro experience ( 4 more or less full seasons in the SHL, including some playoff experience) and can kill penalties and pitch in on the power play if required. Legault is more limited, despite being better in the D zone and having a bigger shot. For right now, I see why Nystrom gets the nod but it's Legault who has a real future with the franchise ... especially if his skating continues to improve.

Legault is almost like found money for the Canes, great size, right shot, some snarl and toughness and certainly his skating is more than servicable for a big, stay at home defender. I guess the Skylar Brind'Amour Quinnipiac visits for Roddy doubled as a scouting trip at times a couple years ago and paid off in spades! I intentionally will not say much about Mr. Perets...;)

Mr. Perets was a great college level goalie. No more, no less.

Canes aren’t practicing today but there will be a morning skate tomorrow. So we may not hear anything about Chatfield until then.

Safe to assume Robinson is back in the lineup tomorrow night?
I guess we’ll see at the morning skate tomorrow. But Robinson hasn’t been through a full practice and they’re usually cautious about bringing someone back until they do.
