2025 NHL Trade Deadline

The big problem with Cozens is his contract, but even that's managable with the salary cap going up.

For discussion's sake, let's assume he isn't as bad as he is this season and he isn't as good as his best season (31g 37A in 81GP), but year over year he'll be a +/- 20G 30A center. $7.1M is a lot of money for a good #3 center.

His contract won't prevent us from re-signing Hutson and after Hutson, the next big contract we'll need to give out is Demidov. Thankfully, even if we're tight on money, by the summer of 2028, Cozens' contract is off the books and Anderson & Gallagher are both up a year before and Laine's going to be gone as well.

I would consider trading for him, but I'm not giving up a ton to get him.

I think that’s how most teams sees it as well. He might get 2 secondary pieces and he’ll always be the best player in the deal, but his contract is a big risk if he doesn’t turn it around.

Cozens would be a great fit , the emu will be traded next year we have seen enough of his no ability to play 5/5

He simply needs a change of scenery, and the contract is no issue for me

FFS we paid Gally 6.5 for his entire decline years from day 1 , at the right price this is a no brainer

Sure, but the type of offer that would prevent the isles to match would cost us two first round picks unprotected, 2 more picks, and would throw our cap structure out of whack right before having to sign Hutson.

Personally I wouldn’t. I’d try a trade though.
You gotta throw stupid money at him costing you 4 firsts , fuck that.

A fair offer like Nero threw at Aho will be laughed at

Still have a shot at ~pick 8. And hopefully Vancouver grabs the last spot in the West to get us 15ish.

Dvorak and Armia are playing decent hockey and could fetch acceptable returns. Maybe Savard, likely not. He’ll probably stay.

I expect we’ll resign Evans, with Beck as 4C next year.
