while I don't disagree, I doubt that Hughes will want to trade a guy he took just 3 years ago 1 overall somewhat controversially when Wright and Cooley were available leaving aside Nemec. It would be a bad look for him to get rid of a 1overall after 3 years. That is especially the case when it is for a defenceman given he took one 5th overall 2 years ago.
